I was hoping this was a joke...but apparently it isn't.
Gothic 2 Gold edition is the one you want to buy (it's $20 and includes the addon Night of the Raven).
If you were impressed by the Dungeon Lords demo you might need to adjust your medication (you are either taking too much of, or not enough, of something). |

@sebcore
I would sugest Gothic 2 as well. I think it is better game. I know "better" or "worse" is simply matter of personal taste. Yet, you say you really liked Gothic 1, so I think that you will really like Gothic 2
@Majnun
Calm down. No one needs to take medication just because he/she likes game you don't like. |

Another vote for Gothic 2 Gold, it's an exceptional game and you can get it at a bargain price. I haven't played DL and don't plan to, but from what I've read in different forums the game was released in incomplete form and was never really fixed. Its publishers and devs don't deserve your money. |

On a side note, I think they have just released Dungeons Lords Collectors Edition. It contains all patches (four so far?) and some additional content that was missed in the original game and that pushed its score down.
You might want to check reviews of this new version of DL CE. |

There is a thread here that points to my review of DUngeon Lords CE.
You can also check out my review of Gothic 2 Gold.
In short, paying $20 for one of the best RPG's of all time compared to paying $40 for a decent RPG with some glaring issues after having been one of the most incomplete and disappoining RPG's ever ... not a tough choice, in my opinion. I had fun with DL, but there is just no comparison...
... or perhaps there is. Like comparing Pariah to Half-Life 2.

Another G2 vote here. Anyone who loves a good RPG will have a copy of G2. I have heard good things about Dungeon Lords and bad. That one is more a matter of likes while to me Gothic is a simple must. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

Unquestionably Gothic 2 Gold. It's simply the best action/RPG ever made, as long as you can work with the difficulty.
Oblivion is worth a look if you have the rig to handle it. It's not as good as Gothic in my opinion but it's a big world and does have some nice quests, despite some other weaknesses.
But not Dungeon Lords. _________________ Editor @ RPGDot |

Comparing Gothic 2 to Dungeon Lords is like comparing a gold nugget to a steaming pile of dogshit. |

I think that new version of DL demo for CE has been just released. It may be worth downloading. |

I just finished Gothic 2 Gold and loved every minute of it. All told, I probably got between 70 and 80 hours of solid gameplay and can't recommend the game highly enough. Put in the effort to learn the interface, and you'll have a lot of fun. However, if you enjoy pulling your hair out by the roots, I'd go with Dungeon Lords. |

Gothic 2 is one of the best games ever made. Go for it. With the add-on it is quite hard, you might want to go through it normally once before installing the add-on, or be up for a good challenge.
In the gold edition you get the original + add-on. |

I usually don't bother contributing fuel to a fire this size but I was very, very disappointed with DL. At first glace it seemed like it could be a good game. After an hour I was ready to toss it. What a waste of money... _________________ If soot stains your tunic, dye it black. This is vengeance.
