EA Frustration Tee Shirts - Story @ GameSpot |
|
On a somewhat lighter side to the ongoing Electronic Arts/employee "battle", the staff of GameSpot have posted up this latest news...

EA employees wear frustration on their sleeves

On the Cafepress Web site, a portal that allows users to create their own custom apparel and items and sell them, a virtual store has opened featuring t-shirts emblazoned with a phrase that illustrates recent complaints some Electronic Arts employees have voiced concerning working conditions at the company. Available in a number of styles at various prices, all under $20, the shirts read: "I worked 90 hours a week for EA, and I didn't even get this lousy T-Shirt." Because Cafepress requires no upfront costs to open a store on the site, it's likely the idea isn't focused on financial gain, but rather as an inside joke among some EA employees. Sources inside the publisher tell GameSpot they have yet to see the shirt surface among employees.

I'm so pleased to see the negative press EA has been getting lately.
Unfortunatley, it isn't out of any altrustic feelings on my part for alleged abused employees.
I'm just hoping that the employee moral problem will somehow affect EA in a way that will stop them from cranking out game after game that satisfies the lowest common denomenator.
Or, alternatively, will get them to stop buying out creative developers only to squash a title and close down the company. I fear for the developers of Gothic, Devine Divinity, and Arx Fatalis. The last thing I want to see are these development houses getting sucked in then spat out by EA the Godzilla. |
