Graphics and performance questions

Hello all.

Well, I've ordered it and it still hasn't arrived yet, but before it did I thought I'd ask a couple of questions from all you people that have it already (if you can stop playing long enough to answer!)

Firstly, is the graphics engine just a tweaked version of the original Gothic engine (which was pretty fine in my opinion) or is it a lot more processor hungry?

And secondly, can you edit the .ini file to make the view distance 300% like you could in the first Gothic? I found this made it so much better to play when you could see almost forever.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Jellylad.

Both.

You can even tweak the viewing distance to 400% if you have an overclocked P4 3 GHz and 2 GB RAM. Viewing distance is shorter than in Gothic, though.

Yeah it's built in the options up to 300% now..kinda nifty..course I dont even run it at 100% because (as in Morrowind) in the larger towns it causes some slowdown..its actually not that bad..just not smooth when turning..

Sucks considering I have a 2ghz p4, 1gig ram and a radeon 9600 128mb..

Oh well..still fun...and very playable

F1 - F4 are hotkeys to change the viewing distance without having to enter the options. You can configure the keys in the gothic.ini. Then can increase the viewing distance outside the town and simpy press Fn before you enter.
