Is there a fine longsword in the original version?
   

There should be I think.

Yes there is. You can get if from Canthar/Sarah or Matteo in chapter 2. It's also stashed in the left tower of the eastern gate. You will need to steel the key from Ruga (knock him down and use oblivion or pickpocket the key).

I actually just found it, thanks. This is like the sixth time I've played the game and the first time I've opened more than one of the towers. How cool.

I don't remember being able to just buy one though. A regular one, yes.

A fine longsword's my favorite weapon even if it's not as powerful as say an orc slayer. I'm happy now.
