The system requirements are the same as the original game. If G2 worked, this will too. But as to the new area... I have no idea.

The new area is called Addon World (like the other two areas are called Old World and New World). It doesn't have a special name in-game... actually, it's a stretch of land covering more than one topographic area.

Well, in the game it's being referred to as the Valley of the Ancestors/Architects/Constructors (whatever translation floats your boat.)

I thought that name was valid for a part of the addon world only? I might have erred, of course.

And I'd translate those folks as the Creators (myself being heavily influenced by Thief and the Builder ). Just a personal choice, of course.

Concerning the system requirements: I play the Addon with:

AMD Athlon XP 2600, 2.08 GHz
512 MB RAM DDR 333
Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 440 SE with AGP 8x
Real Tek AC‘97 Audio for VIA (R)

When I play Gothic Addon model details and texture details are high, sky effects are on, cloud shadows off.

I like to use the F1 – F4 keys - most of the time F3, and the game is not jerking at all. When I use F4 the game is jerking a little bit once or twice in a minute. In the city I have no problems with F3, but there I often use F2 because I don’t want to stress my tiny graphics card.

The PC is not online, I didn’t renew the drivers, fortunately up to now all the games that I played were performed well and smoothly – but now I need a new graphics card for The Prince of Persia!

@ Edda,

I know its a bit off topic but,

Do you think your graphics card might not be good for Prince of Persia?

Here's the graphics specs'

-Minimum Configuration:
Win 98 SE/ME/2000/XP Only
DirectX 9.0b
800 MHz Pentium III, AMD Athlon or equivalent
256 MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 3 or higher (excluding NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX), ATI Radeon
8500 or higher, Matrox Parhelia
DirectX 8.0 compatible sound device
1.4 GB hard drive space
Windows-compatible mouse required

-Recommended Configuration:
Win 98 SE/ME/2000/XP Only
DirectX 9.0b
1.2 GHz Pentium 4, AMD Athlon or equivalent
256 MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 4 or ATI Radeon 9500
DirectX 8.0 compatible sound device
1.4 GB hard drive space
Windows-compatible mouse required

A GeForce 4 MX is still a GeForce 2 technologically. It does not have the rquired pixel and vertex shaders.
Replacing it is a good idea. The PC is good enough but the graphics card is a real stinker.

No argument with that one Gorath,

I totally agree, even on minimum spec' - I don't know what Edda's mobo
is but it has *8 agp (pro) therefore a top graphics card would make this
system "fly" (even on 333 fsb)

My apologies for the slight "diversion" on this thread

Wulf and Gorath, thank you very much for your advices!
In general I‘m very content with my PC (it is one from Fujitsu-Siemens), because even though the graphics card is a bit weak Gothic Addon looks very, very good.
The loading time is really short: in the beginning it is about 35 sec., ... and when the hero is dead 15 – 17 sec.

I know, it is now perhaps a bit off topic, but I would be happy about an advice concerning a new graphics card. I don’t know much about the hardware, but I read somewhere, that the card should fit also to the size of the RAM, so maybe a new graphics card should not have more than 128 MB, but I’m very uncertain, which card might fit in my system ? ? ? It must not be the biggest or the best ...
