More PC games like Grandia II?

Hey, folks,

I know games like Grandia 2 (console-style RPGs) tend to get a lotta flack from PC gamers due to their lack of deep RPG elements, but I happen to be playing Grandia 2 right now, and I gotta say it's probably just about the best computer game I've played. The storyline is incredibly strong and involving, and the characters diverse and unique and rich, and it's loaded with humor, and ... basically, for my money, it's awesome. I definitley favor a deep storyline/character experience to a more strictly "role-playing" enviroment. (Morrowind, for example, seems to sacrifice story and character for history, lore, and role-playing elements, at least in my mind).

My question is, are any of you aware of similar, console-style RPG games for the PC? (Aside from Anachronox, which I've also played, and is my other favorite game ) Or even if it's not "console-style", or anime, or whatever, but a game (preferabbly RPG) that has an especially strong cast of characters and storyline?

Any recommendations you might offer would be deeply appreciated!

Here are five games that, in my opinion, fit your criteria.

1) Septerra Core
2) Summoner
3) Final Fantasy 7 (Console Port)
4) Final Fantasy 8 (Consile Port)
5) Planescape Torment
