How exactly do I block a hit? I never really play games that require too much coordination because, well, I'm not. But I love Gothic2 and cant seem to kill anything too hard because I can't figure out how to block them.
I'm sure it's a timing thing, but if someone out there can break it down for me, I'd be ever so appreciative.
Many thanks! _________________ Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.

It's not too hard. You have to watch for the swing. You have to have your parry up before they complete their swing. Also, the easier you are hit, the easier it will be for them to interupt your actions. You can't parry animals, only beings with weapons. Sometimes it works to just automatically parry after a couple of hits. You know hold down ctrl then, up, up, back.

Now see, that final bit about holding down the ctrl key, that's the info I needed. THANKS! _________________ Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.

You can basically just left click and hold to target a particular monster. I find myself making less combat errors that way when compared to holding ctrl. |

You can also just walk backwards, that will automaticly block close combat weapons (even a hit of a black Troll). It doesn't work on ranged weapons and magic. |

yeah, the first thing you need to know is to hold you attack button while attacking and just press left/right/up/down on the keyboard. many newbies have problems with that.
also, blocking is very useful, specialy when fighting skeletons and orcs.
and the "step back" move is one of the best defending moves in the games eg. if 5 or 6 orcs are chasing you just keep steping back and they won't be able to hit you no matter what just wait for the right moment and DANG! hit them at their weak spot. |
