sweet. one more reason i'm gettingf that game the nanosecond it comes out. heh. for all the hype, wouldn't it suck if it was like the worst game ever?

NWN hands down, even if its not out we all know its going to RULE and i mean RULE the RPG Genre, but also all other games ever made  Good second is BG witch rulez much over Planscape, but anyway Black Isle is by far the best producer of RPG GAMES! |

NWN will sink or swim by the virtue of its editing tools. If they're easy to use it will have a happy fanbase. If they're hard to use or limited it will have a vengeful fanbase.

Nostalgia dictates a vote for Eye of th Beholder.
Among the Others though I would suggest Menzobaranzen and perhaps the best of them all Stone Prophet.
Loved the world of the Dark Sun games but found them unplayably buggy.
By the way what about my old home Dungeon Master? Not D&D enough for you? |

I filed Dungeon Master under 'other'... I didn't play it.
NWN should cost the same as all games cost now... unless they get greedy and jack up the price knowing that people would buy it anyways. Always a possibility.

I voted gold box games. I spent so many hours on those (until Darklands, that is). Dark Queen of Krynn was my favorite (so HARD, though). My god, the sheer difficulty of the Gold Box games was mind-numbing (but it taught me to persevere).
I'm looking forward to NWN, so I can craft some great adventures....

I remember watching the intro to Eye of the Beholder and thinking 'wow... how can computer games ever beat these graphics'?
I bet there were those who thought that about Phatasie though.

I see Baldur's Gate is missing from your list...maybe you should include it before you claim victory for Planescape, which in my opinion, for a game, was a damn fine book.

Those four where in a series but another two were produce which where separate from that story line called Gateway to the Savage Frontier and Treasures of the Savage Frontier. Then there was the excellent Dragonlance series - Champions of Krynn (which was pants), then the excellent Dark Knights of Krynn and Dark Queen of Krynn.
Ahh they used AD&D 1st edition rules (Rangers got Magic Missle) but were still great for the time - like EverythingXen - they were AD&D - on computer!

Yes indeed BG and BG2 were there but mysteriously dissappeared. They were in second place with about 5 votes.

What?! Pool of Radiance was (one of) the first crpg's I ever played and I absolutely loved it! I even bought all the predecessors even though they sucked bigtime.. But Pool of Radiance wasn't at all linear! It hurts my old heart to hear someone say that. You had a quest office where you could go and see if they had any new missions for you. Sometimes they had up to 5 missions at the same time. You could do them in any order you liked. And the character creation was very open too! The sequels were linear, but NOT Pool of Radiance! GRR. |
