Nah. Keeping my view unbiased/impartial (I didn't like IWD1) and playing/enjoying the game for what it is will be the hardest part...

i fear that all the waiting would make you get a negative "early impressions" on IWD 2... _________________

Quite honestly, so would I. I'm skeptical about the IWD series in the first place (skeptical, which makes me impartial... not 'against')... having to wait a LONG time and seeing other reviews coming up certainly doesn't help (though it's not the 'games' or the people who worked long and hard on its fault ... it's just human nature.)
I'm certain I'll be able to set aside that and judge the game solely on its own merits and flaws, but it IS an extra layer of 'baggage' that needs to be discarded (during install hopefully).
And no, I still don't have it. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

I bought it, played it and removed it from my system. To be fair to this game (as one should be to any other), there are nice features - however, whether one will enjoy the game or not depends upon what you expect (and enjoy) in a CRPG.
If you enjoy endless and for the most part mindless battles, then you might enjoy the game. If you enjoy severe linearity, then you might enjoy the game. If you enjoy virtually no serious options to solving "quests" or storyline elements, then you might enjoy the game. Other than that you are likely to become bored as I was. _________________ When everything else in life seems to fail you - buy a vowel. |

like joey, i bought it and then promptly removed it from my comp. this is one of those games that just becomes boring after a couple of hours of play. i knew what this game was all about & thought i'd give it a shot...but it just didn't tickle that happy little spot reserved for games in my heart. _________________ "The origin of things, if things have an origin, cannot be revealed to me, if revealed at all, until I have travelled very far from it, and many revolutions of the sun must precede my first dawn. Hmmm, I can certainly understand how you might feel considering there are some of us who have already finished the game and moved on .
Honestly though, I had serious hopes for this game (I enjoyed IWD I) so I am not sure what the problem is. I didn't encounter any bugs and I do believe it performed as it was designed - just very little enjoyment. I had to force myself to finish it even once whereas I played IWD I several times. _________________ When everything else in life seems to fail you - buy a vowel. |

Maybe you played IWD so many times that playing IWD2 felt like you were just going through IWD again? _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

i did play first IWD 2-3 times. It's new game world, new story in icy cold setting, and yeah it's hack & slash but i felt the freshness (after finsih Galdur's Gate series), fun & humorous dialogs, interesting tactical combats & such. IWD 2 still maintain most of these elements, even with new set of game rules and redesigned interfaces, but it just feel dull. i think it lack interesting story/plot make the game looks dull. At least when IWD 1 released it's a "new game" and that make things more interesting although basically still a hack/slash gameplay. New game rules?, that certainly make the game a little more interesting, but we already tried/experienced it in NWN; IWD 2 offer nothing absolutely interesting...no wonder some reviewers said "been there done that...".
Most likely only IWD hardcore fans would still enjoy playing IWD 2. _________________
