Oblivion and GC2 explode piracy myth?

I think the success of Oblivion and GC2 shows this clearly. That people willingly and happily buy games if they are peceived as value for money. I suspect that sales of both these games will continue to pile up over a few years at least. And all this despite the fact that both games have little or no copy protection built in.

I hope game studios take a close look at this. Gothic 3/JoWood - especially please note - since there has been some talk that they may use StarForce. That this 'piracy' has been overblown fear and may not warranted. And that they too may now stop adding crappy copy protection mechanisms that create so many hassles for the user.

Whats do you think?[/b]

What makes you think the CP is the deciding factor for the success these games have? Maybe itīs great marketing and consequent community work for many years? Or that they are sequels?

I agree somewhat. I mean, it takes JoWooD one and a half freakin' years to translate a little game. Wasting more time on copy protections would probably irritate gamers further.
