Do you have the current patched version, 1.17? Is your virus protection off? Post specs for your computer. While I am no pro at this, some of the others may be.

If you had to install the patch, try doing it again. Looks like no one has an answer or they haven't been here to see the post. Garrett may be tied up with the recent hack we had. You can send email to one of the devs who often comes here, and he has helped others. His email is jroby@arkane_studios.com. Send him a note and see if he can help. Wish I could have done more. Hope you get an answer here of from Julien soon.

I'm having that exact problem right now except that it happens to every damned cutscenes!

Whatever moves during the movie stays black and everything slows down. I can see other objects fine but the moment something moves, it leaves a trail of blackness and everything slows down. The screen almost freezes. I can barely hold myself from screaming.

I was playing it before, a few months ago, but I though my character sucked so I begun another game. That's when the BS started.
The intro was crapy and everyother cut scene that followed.

I uninstalled it and and reinstalled plus I downloaded the 1.17 patch again.
It didn't fix the problem.

I will not play the game like this. I don't understand. It worked fine before I began another game.

I hate computers.......

Damned video cards... Intel extreme graphics to Geforce 5500

When I first installed the game, I had an Intel Extreme graphics driver wich was a 32 mb video card.

A few months ago, I installed a Geforce 5500 Nvidia 256 mb card. I don't recall having a cutscene untill a few days ago when I restarted a game.

Every cutscene is bad but the moment it ends, everything turns back to normal. Only once, was there a slow down when I bumped into a guard. a message said that when my stealth is high enough, I can pickpocket people. It took a few moments, I mean, it slowed down for a few moments then everything whent fine.

A few moments ago, as I was going down the 4th level, my computer crashed. It nevers has when I played this game. I guess I really have to fix this nonsense.

Maybe this can shed a little light to someone who knows about this stuff.

Anyway, I think I'll have to read and understand the different threads given by
Agrandir.

Damn, damn, damn....

driver solved the problem.

Well, that's that.

I downloaded the most recent Nvidia driver (81.92 i think).

My problems seem fixed.

If you still havent gotten it fixed, do you have a VIA chipset if so make sure you have the newest drivers for your motherboard as well.
Looks like the newest are 5.07a
