Weird.
I wonder why it doesn't work for me.

Heh, you're seriously missing out, Xerox! I built my Octec's Ghost last week!

The link works for me too, maybe you can cut and paste the address. http://frost.bbboy.net/thrymgard

@Xerox Maybe they'll let you buy time cards like I think some current games do.

It's working now.

EDIT: Erm... there was no place to put a password when registering... Is that normal?

It’s one of those sites that assign you a random password by e-mail, then let you change it in your profile. It still has me as the only registered user. Did you check your e-mail?

I have checked my e-mail. And unless they sent me one of these "Earn money at home", "Get your diploma", "Win $1000", or "Enlarge your [insert organ which I do not possess]", then I'd have to say, no, they haven't sent the e-mail.

With the continued delay of nearly every SP RPG I'm interested in I'm paying more attention to this. The announcement today that Atari/Infogrammes will publish Horizons looks like an excellent sign. This means a big publisher thinks it's pretty good plus well-funded support and it might even get down here .

quote:
"As early as it is there are no set guild rules yet, but one. No PKing! There is a big difference between PvP and PKing. If two people wish to fight then they should have every right too, even if they are in the same guild, but PKing - the killing of those who do no wish to participate in Player vs Player combat - will be strictly frowned upon. The PKing of another guild member will be grounds for immediate dismissal."

I've been reading some of those IGN developer journals and have yet to see anything regarding PvP. So is there PvP in HORIZONS? or am i missing out on some important information?

There will be no pvp in Horizons

I haven't taken time to read this thread past pages 1 & 4, but in response to the pvp question, there will be absolutely no pvp elements in Horizons, save possibly arena type combat and dueling.

The team at Artifact scrapped the heavily pvp reliant design document that once was Horizons prior to the blackout they had about a year ago. Once this blackout ended, the team announced that they would be working with a revamped design document that focused only on pve.

While this was something that distressed a lot of the former fan base of the very ambitious preliminary design document, the team did go on the record saying they planned to develop a pvp focused mmog once they had completed the pve based Horizons project. While this may have been a ploy to simply calm the pvp fans who had stuck with the fan base for so long before the scrapping of the first design, the concept is slightly interesting. The concern with this plan though, is that if Artifact does intend to follow through with this statement, they will be dividing their attention and fan base between two different games. They were very clear about the fact that they planned to make the pvp project a completely separate game also, not an add in or separate server, since they stated they felt in order to do a pvp game, you had to focus on it as the main game element.

Time will tell, but for the time being, the current Horizons project will be pvp-free.

Thanks, KAS.

I remember that blackout, i was pretty let-down at the time about it, but i forgive Artifact now. It wasnt entirely their fault, since they ran out of funding before the blackout... And i am fairly sure since they got a publishing deal going now (more funding!) with Atari and Infogrames, they will be able to afford a second project. Things look very promising for Artifact and HORIZONS. I will probably give their PvP game a shot too if it meets with my rather high taste standards.

Yay! No PvP.
I can take duels and gladiator type fighting, but not some level 50 idiot running around acting like he's king of the world because he can kill level 1 newbies.

No kidding, Val. I cant stand that either. I tried a free PvP server in AC once called Darktide. It was the worst gaming experience of my life. The people on Darktide are EVIL people, and i am NOT kidding. They have little to no morals, cussing, griefing, acting like idiots, over-aggressive, and are sexually explicit little brats. They like to hide behind the anonymity of the internet where they know they wont be held accountable for their actions. I dont like people who have no guts, which pretty much covers all of those level 50s who gank level 1s. They are spineless.

But dont get me wrong, i LOVE team-based kingdom-to-kingdom conflict, battling other players on a team -- but it has got to be for a good reason, such as self-defense and in the defense of your friends, i.e. kingdom... I like an even match where both sides dont know who is stronger. So i am happy that HORIZONS doesnt have any PvP; to me it doesnt make much difference, other than the fact that all of our enemies wont be other players this time.

anyway, HORIZONS is going to be great. i cant wait to adventure with all of you.

"Q: CAN OTHER PLAYERS KILL MY CHARACTER?
A: No. Only computer-controlled opponents will be able to kill your character. The player vs. player version of Horizons is being developed separately in order to create a better experience for players. We will experiment with consensual forms of player vs. player conflict such as guild vs. guild and dueling during our Beta periods. "

I'm not a fan of PvP, but Guild v. Guild might be fun.
