judge me - cheating or not ...

I'm in shop, and there is some juicy equipment I would like to have. I can do three things:

a) hard way - develop high sneaking skill and grab item when shopkeeper is looking at me. or use any combination of this skill and spells to render me invisible enough to steal.

b) ignore him, grab whatever I want and run away from shop. Then go to anyone that can take bounty off my head. After this when I go back to shop everything is ok.

c) walk towards shopkeeper in the way that he starts lookin at the wall opposite to me. Then grab items in much easier way.

Currently I'm thinking about b) and c) as cheating. What do you think ?

Moved to MW General per request.

Edit:
I don't think (b) is cheating because if one fails on (a), the scenario in (b) will most likely happen.

I wouldn't call it cheating.

What surprised me was the way all the items are on display for the taking. I am glad you can find a way to sneak items when the shop keep isn't looking regardless of your skills. What I hate is under other circumstances, crimes get reported when noone is around.

If thieving is in your nature, steal until your heart's content.

I just resterted my story with fresh character after 3 days. I rearranged some skills, to be more ultimate thief. But now (with point (b) especially) I find stealing much more easy. The reason for it is, that guards on the street won't chase you, unless your bounty is much higher. Also I feel bad about (c). They could made it in the way, that shopkeeper and his/her guard won't like you forever, unless you use spell.

Generally, I don't want to be good thief in a "creeper-gem" way methods.
On the other side, everything that is not prohibited, is allowed. I'm wondering, if developers left such methods intentionally. If so, then it's ok. If not, then even slider with max damage x15 won't make this game honest (and challenging)

Well, I wouldn't call that cheating... cheating is using the TCL command to leave the room and steal stuff from the outside.

N o it is not cheating, you got those options and if the shopkeeper is stupid enough just do it.

It's not a stupid shopkeeper, it is crappy code and crappy playtesting and crappy balancing. Everytime you enter a store (or any house) you enter a small world of its own. Whatever you do in there doesn't affect the outside world, except some hard-coded things.. Like when you kill someone and NOONE is watching, you immediately get "You are in trouble" or something.. DUMB. I miss the "HaltHaltHalt!" from Daggerfall..

Maybe you are right.
I think I'll just enjoy the game instead of trying to make it more difficult.
Maybe I was looking too much for morrowind stuff (especially "how attributes and skills releate to each other") and I read too much about how bad money is in this game. But I'm thief and I like it

@Mattias:

I'm not sure, but it looks like, that bounty is responsible for it. So if I rob some shop ignoring guards and etc. and run away, I won't be chased unless my bounty is high enough. Of course if I start talking to any guard, I will have typical options (pay, go to jail, resist).

But you're right, they could have made it better. Robbed shopkeepers shouldn't like you later at all, no matter if you paid or went to jail or whatever. And they shouldn't look at the wall like retards, when you're geting their stuff. ehhhhh

its not cheating because programmers made it that way intentionaly, hardly they would leave such a bug in a game. It would be stupid that shopkeeper wont talk to you after you steal an item, its very fun to do it and most shopkeepers dont have very expensive items

I stole that Deadric Longbow in Vivec. 50k bounty, and I only have 1200 gold. So I camp outside towns, and sneak inside during night if need be. Cheating? Maybe. But it would be the first cheat that actually made it harder:)
