Since your fighting skills progress in 5%- or 1% steps, combat becomes easier in a smoother way.

Dunno about the full version, but I don't think it's "broken" in the demo -- it's hard to see in the forest, which makes things tactically more interesting; you have to rely on your hearing.

However, there's one tip that can make things a bit easier: switch to first-person view in wooded areas. Then at least you can see what your character could see; you don't have the problem where the camera can't even see your character.

There's a setting in the .ini file that will let you use first-person view even in combat. Forget what it's called but it's pretty self-evident. I played a lot of the demo in first person, and I'd definitely recommend it.

You see the weapons, but you don't see your hands (or feet) -- the weapons dance in front of you on their own. Not exactly realistic, but cute!

Know what you mean I already tried that but 3th person is more fun.

I have a question or two:
1. For those of you that hav beaten the game what is your level? For those of you who haven't beaten it yet, what level are you at and what chapter are you in?
2. Does increasing your skills in combat abilities ever cost more than 1 skill point per 1%/ 5 skill points per 5% etc...
3. In the first Gothic, to learn 2handed from anyone except for Lee, you had to master 1handed first. Does this remain true in Gothic 2? If so, do you have to reach 100% on a skill before learning another?
I ask these questions becuase I'm curious about how many skills I can max out.

Sk'ar -
1. Somewhere in the high 30s; 40ish.
2. Disparity is a possibility, either because not one but two skills will be improved or because the class is not proficient at that skill.
3. Some teachers require a prerequisite proficiency. In general there are multiple teachers to chose from.

As for two and three: what ghola said . As for 1): I was level 32 when I finished the game for the first time.

I'm trying to get an idea of whether to play as a Paladin or a Mage and I was wondering:

1). Does anyone know if you can train in 1H or 2H swords before you join a group? If so, does the SkillPoint cost for training them increase if you join the Mages later?

2). If you pray at the shrines for Strength or Mana before you join a group and get all that's possible, can you pray for them again after you've joined a group?

3). Can the Paladin learn to make runes, or only the Mages?

4). Can the Mage train in Fighting Skills?

Also, (not related to Mage/Paladin decision);

5). If you kill quest related monsters before you're supposed to, do they respawn when you get the quest, (as they did in G1)?

(I thought about putting this in the Spoilers section, but it seems like pretty standard info).

1) Yes and yes. However, there are differences in how much trainers can teach you, e.g. one can raise your strength up to 50, another up to 70 etc.. Normally the better trainers are only available to guild members.

2) Well, I didn't try that, but I'm still sure that eleven permanet increases is all that you get in the game at the shrines.

3) No, only mages can learn to make runes. But since mages are the only ones who are able to use mage runes ( unlike paladin runes ), they are the only ones who would be interested in learning it. Paladins get their runes as rewards.

4) Yes he can. But he may not have access to the best trainers ( so he can't advance as far as the other classes ) and he must invest twice as many learning points.

5) Well, sometimes the monster doesn't spawn before you get the quest, sometimes it just doesn't matter if you have already killed the monster and sometimes you are screwed. There is a quest where you can help a mercenary to kill some field robbers. I killed them before I took the quest. So we could enter their lair without a fight, and when I asked for my reward I was told that I didn't do anything ( that deserves one ). Well, in this case it didn't matter much anyway, and I am sure that if there other quests where this can happen, it wouldn't matter much either or it would be nigh to impossible to kill the monster. Anyway, i always kill a monster as soon as I can which means that only VERY special and rare monsters live to see chapter three and, aside from the one mentioned case, I didn't have any problems whatsoever.

P.S. Mages rule!

Will the gothic3 be designed as such, that it will be possible to import the character from gothic 2..?
If not fully, then at least all chars devided by 10..

Interesting question, although it might be an early one.. We don't even know whether the game will have (now already) standard warrior/mage/paladin structure...
I think it would be good to implement this option in the new game.
Those of us, gamers, who will use this to cheat, will surely be able to find another way to cheat without it, so I thing this shouldn't be an obsticle..

I'm not sure I understand your question, Freakie. Could you, er, rephrase it?
