1) There's no "best race" - they all have diffferent qualities and abilities, you just pick one that suits your playing style and the character you want to play. Orcs are good brute force warriors, Redguards are good "stylish" warriors, Imperials are good diplomats, Wood Elves are good thieves, as are Khajiiti, and Dark Elves are good Battlemages. Half the fun of the game is playing something that doesn't quite "fit" though, so you could try an Orcish monk, or a Wood Elf heavy fighter.
Personally I think the Dark Elves look the best out of all races, and the greeting "Dunmer?" seems right somehow!
2) No idea about just using the keyboard. Probably not the best thing to do I expect. Have you given the default controls a good run? They're very well laid out and I've personally not had to change any of them. It's probably like Quake - you *could* use the keyboard, but you'll be missing out a lot of control over your character you'd otherwise have. _________________ Charlie Dobbie

1) Yes - as cfmdobbie said, there's no "best race" in MW. The correct questions i think is HOW you gonna play MW, or what is your CRPGs gaming style (powergaming, roleplaying, more on exploration...).
2)Personally, i found that the mouse + keyboard control is very easy to use. Maybe you would get use to it after playing several hours. Until now i RARELY found player who complain about control in MW.... _________________
