Lares keeps the ornament until you reach the watermages. He stops outside and gives it to you then, and he goes back to the dock.

Well, then Sem, no I can't ask for the ornament until I'm there with him, like Uriziel said.

OK, I did have a bit of a problem - Vatras gave me the letter and told me to get Lares or go myself with ornament. Lares needed someone to relieve him, which I took care of with Baltram. But Lares never gave me the option of taking me *anywhere* ... I went to Onar on my own. There was an 'ornament' option (in german) so I took the ornament, went to see Saturas, got through that dialogue tree, seemed stuck until I went around talking to all of the water mages and opened up the Portal quest with Nefarious. Now I'm in the new area ...

I think I understood what you said, but I don't understand what you mean by it? What do you mean with an "ornament" option? With whom did you have that option?

Lares had an option at the bottom (above 'end') that had something about the ornament, and stuck ... something. I selected that, he gave the ornament, and I played on.

Weird, he just gave you the ornament? Had you already visited Saturas at the pyramid perhaps? Found your way there on your own.. ?

Of yeah, probably should have mentioned that But I always do a bit of roaming, and got the 'Sun Aloe' quest which took me that way and figured I'd stop in at the temple and say 'hi' - but when I saw the new area I had to explore.

Yes, this is an annoying bug. Basically, Lares will take the player to 3 places in the game in NotR. (The Tavern, The Water Mages, and one of the 3 shrines later on in the story) However, after choosing the Tavern option, at any time, his dialogue topic that contains the destination choices (I believe it's called "OK Let's Go") goes away and never returns.

My advice is to have him take you to the tavern last. after you've gotten him to escort you to the other two locations first.

That's strange, as he's supposed to take you to Saturas after the tavern(you have to join the Ring of Water before you can give Saturas the ornament and begin that quest).. are you certain? If so, then this bug is bigger than I thought, as it forces you into doing things in an unnatural order.
