Mixed feelings about NOTR. (balance issues)

I just started playing NOTR using the English translation mod(Great work on the mod guys ) and so far I'm really enjoying it. My only problem is some of the changes they made to the stats. Some of the weapon requirements are just plain crazy. 85 strength for a simple longsword!?! Some of the requirements are almost double what they were in G2 as well as the damage they inflict. The Wolf knife went from inflicting 12 damage to 30? I know most of the monsters are beefed up as well but it doesn't really make sense because the increase of the weapons and the increase of the monster strength cancel each other out. So what's the point? they should have left the stats as they were in G2 and just added the extra monsters and weapons. My biggest complaint is the way they made all magic scrolls only 5 mp to cast now. It makes no sense at all and makes the game way too easy if you exploit it. They also made scrolls too easy to get early in the game. A level one player can just to the marketplace now and buy a Summon Skeleton scroll which can wipe out an entire group of bandits with ease. They should have kept the mana requirements the same for scrolls as they were in Gothic 2.
Other than that.....Great game!

point is to make it more difficult ..you have to learn now more strength to wield a weapon. and learning costs more LP's. try to beat a warg or orc with only 30 strength weapon, well orc isn't impossible if you can block their combos but when you hit and see that affect in his health (if you see any) you see that "several" hits should be done to harm him . spells wont last long if you use them all the time ..you have to use sword and then you need lots of strength to wield even a decent weapon

Yes, it is harder, I agree. I just don't like some of the changes they made. Does it make sense for a 4th or 5th level magic scroll to cost the same amount of mana to cast as a 1st level scroll?!? No, it doesn't.

As far as the weapons go, it wasn't nessecarry to boost the requirements and damage like that. Why not just keep them the same and include additional
weapons with higher requirements and damage. The reason I don't like it is because now the weapons are inconsistent between Gothic 1 and Gothic 2.

High level scrolls are also too cheap. You can by a scroll of Shadowbeast from Ignaz in the Harbor for only 200 gold. I think a scroll that allows you to transform into a monster that can wipe out most of Khorinis should cost a little bit more than 200 gold and 5 mana to cast, don't you?

Holy sh*t! Lockpicking cost 10 LP's now?!? There are just not enough LP's to go around in this game.

50% more? How do you figure that? You don't get to go up that much higher in levels. Are talking about because of the Stone Tablets?

Yes but don't forget Gorath that the beasts are harder to get killed and give less exp that the original game.I hope that G3 will have a better Level system.(I didn't like the add-on's one).

Maybe 50% was too much. There definitely are more points to spend, though. Some more levels, the stone tablets, bonus points (apples, etc.).

They've made the game too hard.
The results:You stuck some times and that increases your play time. Why do you think they made it harder.

It was a community request. The German community considered G2 way too easy.

I know that eating Apples will increase your strength and eating Mushrooms will increase your mana, but how many do you have to eat and how many times can you do it?
