Disappearing items on ground

Is there a set time limit that items will disappear after being left on the ground? I got over encumbered just outside of a trader and had to dump some stuff on the ground in order to go in to sell. When I came back out, all the items were gone.
Kinda sucked but oh well

I don't know if there is a time limit, but I do know that not everything stays where it's placed.

Bodies disappear fairly quickly in an area that is disreputable, as do SOME items. But I've seen some bodies out in the wilderness (both monster and npc) that I've knocked off, but have been there for half a morrowind year or more...

yep, i've had the same experience also but not for all items. i stripped off all my armor and including my enchanted flame claymore and a bow in a shop in front of the counter where the trader was standing in Caldera to pick up more stuff to sell. there was also a legion guard. after about 1-2 hrs (me thinks) of selling everything i wanted to sell i went back to the shop to pick up my stuff and lo! and behold all my armor was still there except my enchanted flame claymore. weird cos the bow was still there! did the trader take it??? it wasn't in his inventory. maybe the guard?

appreciate any comments on this. maybe the some NPC r thieves. so watch out! put yr stuff in crates and chest. definately won't go missing. i hope!

I was loosing stuff put in the crate at the entrance to the Dwemer ruins. Everything would keep dissapearing. It was just really cheap stuff like common shoes, etc. I would put all that trash in the crate and go back into the cave and everytime I came back all of the items would be gone. Happened like 3 times in a row.

This hasnt happened to me yet and I REALY hope it never does, because I have a cave that I moved into and it is FULL of stuff.

The Dev's said nothing is supposed to vanish. You are supposed to be able to leave any item anywhere and it is supposed to stay there indefinately.

Hopefully they will fix it in the patch. You know they are rushing to fix these bugs because they want to get the Xbox version on the shelves and they cant release it untill all the bugs are gone.

Correction: Until all the game internal bugs are gone (broken quests, stuck on objects, dissappearing items, armors changing categories, etc). Crash bugs and drop to desktop bugs for the PCs can be ignored... all they have to do is get it to run perfectly on their X-Box test engine. Since all X-Boxes use the same video card, sound card, drivers ... are identical in every possible way in other words... that's not too hard.
