Who says this British slang everyone keeps talking about? I havent heard any yet. All I keep hearing are people calling me a weener. And that is DEFINATELY not British slang.
Everytime one of those "tough" mercenarys calls me a weener I keep expecting them to start getting all "innapropriate". Trying to bully me with their limp wrists, and going into battle with pink spandex....

There are a couple of people in the mercenary camp that say that to me. I cant remember their name, I will have to check. But its one of the guys standing outside the warehouse where everyone spleeps, just between the warehouse and the steep slope where the guy who fleeces you for gold is.
He is one of the guys you have to beat up to prove you are on Lee's side.

Make no mistake about it, prostitution and drug abuse can't be tolerated and have to go in the American version of Gothic II. You better get the Brittish version.

I'm not so sure about that. They had no problems keeping the swampweed smoking in the original G1. And there have been much racier games sex-wise released in the US as well. I wouldn't worry about censorship especailly if they are planning on rating it "M" over here.

I fondly remember those days of playing Berzerk and Vanguard and trying to pretend they were like the arcade. Anybody remember Intellivision? I must have played those games even more than the Atari. Great sports games like footbal, soccer, golf, etc....

The word is "weenie" and one of the people who use it is Rod.
Could this be a translation from the German wiener , short for wienerwurst - a small beef, pork, or veal sausage?
I think, in the context of a fun insult he is say you have a small one.

...I agree. If the whole swampweed thing was really an issue, then it probably would have had a different name implemented (something original yet requires no talent to think of...like "swamp-root). As for that whole sex thing...well...i've already made a huge comment about all of that in the "Only in a german game" post. (read it if you're feeling slightly rebellious). The truth is, with the blood and gore soon to be seen from both Half-Life 2 and Doom 3, the blood factor shouldn't even be recognized by Atari. (hell, they were a part of Unreal 2 for christ's sake). And the sex...well...Grand Theft Auto is really only under the microscope when this subject is brought up. A little scene like the one in G2...as well as a certain painting that i've heard of (I haven't played the game yet...waiting for U.S. release so please NO SPOILERS!!!) won't draw much attention at all. ...hmmm...if i remember correctly, wasn't it SiN that had a picture in a mansion of an enlarged scrotum? ...see...now that's what will draw attention. (i know this cuz thinking about a picture of an enlarged scrotum just makes ya go "ew")
P.S. ....we're still being called yankees by people from other countries???

I don't know why some people here think the game will be censored for the American audience. US games are very violent and "mature" as it is. If you can find a recent example of a game that was already released in English that got censored in the US then by all means show me the precedent.
I think by improved they just mean further patched and used that statement as a marketing tool.
Also in the US yankee is only recognized as the NY baseball team that everyone outside of NY despises. |
