rough ore blade

im a paladin in chapter 4 whan i was in chapter 3 i bought a rough ore blade (or something like that) it cost me 2000gp...
i can now upgrade any weapon i want... all i wanted to know is: is thare any other magic ore blade? if so, is it the bast weapon i can get as a paladin?
will it be smart for me to wait with the weapon upgrade for a better weapon than what i now have? (right now im using an Orc Slayer)

If by upgrading you mean consecrating, I was under the impression that only the ore blades could be upgraded. I tried it with a different blade and it said that I needed an ore blade or something to that account.

Yep, only the ore blade can be consecrated (upgraded) two times. You will be able to buy it from Harrad the smith in Khorinis when the time for it has come. But it's powers still fall short from the Dragonslayer swords the Dargon Hunter can forge at the end.

No, there is no other oreblade you can get, the one you buy from Harrad is the one and only for the Paladin. If you learned blacksmithing you would also be able to learn how to forge other oreblades, but these are neither as powerful nor can they be consecrated.

Calm down...you take the blade you got from Harad, and have it consecrated at the monastery. It costs 5000 gold.

Later, in chapter 5, you'll get the Tears of Innos, with which you can consecrate it again. Then you'll get the best paladin sword.

A, I see your dilema now. This might be because of the translation, maybe they would have done better calling it simple or plain ore sword instead of rough, then this misunderstanding could have been avoided. But it is as it is, you will only get that rough ore balde, there is no fine ore blade anywhere. But by consecreating it once for 5000gp and later with the Tears of Innos you will make it a very fine blade indeed. Although still not as fine as the Heavy Dragon Slayer, but this weapon is only for Mercenaries anyway.

Okay, the only upgradeable sword in the whole game is the one and only you can buy from Harrad as soon as you are told to. There are no other upgradeable swords besides the 'rough ore blade' (either one- or two-handend) that the Paladin can buy or gain through any other means. You can not make a false or, as you put it, stupid decision with this blade since it is a one of a kind. So relax, have fun and finally upgraded your rough ore blade to it's first level, or even to it's second if you are already in chapter five and have gained the Tears of Innos.
