RPG with operation flashpoint engine ? |
|
what do you think about the idea of having a rpg made with the operation flashpoint engine :
imagine jeeps replaced by horses, guns and grenades replaced by swords and bows, mid-century villages replaces with middle-age ones, etc...
The OFP engine can render a large landscape without loading; its rendering is not as shinny as morrowind's one but it's far more realistic.
The main problem is how are handled the characters in the game. All chars are constantly "living" ; they can move from any point to any other point of the world at any time. This prevent having hundreds of chars...
And there's no stats, too.
Maybe a new engine with the same graphic rendering capabilities as OFP but adapted for the RPG genre would be a better idea...
bah just thinking... |

I like any RPG so long as it has good gameplay and a great story.
I don't care what engine it uses. _________________ --

I understand, and i suspect that we have to do a heavy modification to the game engine before could use it for CRPGs. Therefore here come the bummer.... _________________

Why is it instantly assumed that an RPG needs to have horses and swords? Why coudln't you just have an RPG with guns and jeeps??? _________________ (@) |

or laser swords and speeder-bikes !
I talked about horses because it's something rarely seen in a true 3D RPG.
( maybe in some cheapy iso rpg ?? ( hum excuse this one, I'm not objective) )
I know Everquest has horses now, but never seen their implementation.
One of the great thing with OFP it's the ability to drive any vehicle : ( there was some old games offering that in the 90's ... Hunter and Midwinter I & II ) |

MoonDragon, this was exactly what went through my head when I read about replacing the Jeeps... I mean, I used to play Twilight:2000 where you had both Jeeps and horses. Even if the horses were cheaper to sustain . _________________ Jaz |
