the minimum requirements....

800mhz as a minimum? I hope they're able to bring it to a reasonable level much less than 800 for a minimum. Just think, Morrowind and NWN are having problems running on above average systems (morrowind much worse than NWN) and they only recommend a 800.

Imagine the issues Gothic 2 would have as far as lousy performance when it REQUIRES a 800mhz processor.

Bad news...bad news....

Aasgeier: I read on a forum the minimum requirements were 800 MHz, 256 MB RAM and a 64 MB graphics card. Is this correct and what kind of machine do we need to enjoy all the effects?

Mike Hoge: Yes, it will end up somewhere around this.

Seems like he did say that.

No. He avoided a clear answer.
During the translation I changed the postion of the 'yes'. In German it was his last word, not the first.
The way I see it he says that the given specs are more or less enough for full effects. This can of course mean everthing if a developer says it.
Tom Putzki said something similar months ago.

It appears my play on words didn't go over very well. Terribly sorry.

I really don't care, but I'm glad I could help you with your whine of the day.

Also, rather than making the title look ignorant, you could have just taken OUT the words, like I'm about to do.

Well, if Morrowind stated that its minimum requirements was 1.5GHz and GeForce 4, I think the sales would have been miniscule.

The truth about requirements always reveal themselves only when you're testing/playing the game yourself. From that you can then judge the sense of the developers claims.

Gothic worked out pretty well for its claims. I'll tend to trust them.

erm

at least they're not underplaying the requirements

Microsoft: "Pentium 233 with 16Mb ram required for Win9x
Yeah, right - and I'm not using it for games, just word processing (buy a frickin pen and paper for chrissakes)

To be honest, it makes sense that high requirements means that the game makes high requirements for itself simply because it is a major-league game development

In that I mean:
"Gothic2 is designed to run on a Pentium 233 with 64Mb of memory so that EVERYONE can enjoy OUR game!"

I would be DISTINCTLY concerned over that message.

I think we're talking "audience capacity" rather than "if you have the ticket, you can get in easier"

i hope the requiremend at a normal rate.
The must do that, big gamers won't buy ugly games.
So they must make it look good= high requirements.

High requirements means less games will be sold.
So they try to find a way to maximize the number of games sold = maximum profeds.

The world runs on money

Re: erm

Since the folks at PB said they kept the same basic engine, and only added a few new features, I expect G2 won't require much more than G1 for confortable playing.

Windows is perfectly usable with that configuration; what matters is the app/game you're running.
