Arx Fatalis Review at Gameraiders |
|
A review of Arx Fatalis has been posted at Gameraiders - with a final score of 88%. This is their conlcuison:

For those of you old enough to remember the Ultima Underworld games this game is very similar in its concept and playability. I really enjoyed the Ultima Underworld games, but after playing through them I really didn't have a great desire to go back and play all the way through them just to see if I could find something new since the time investment was substantial. The same is true of Arx Fatalis, I'm not sure I will ever go back and play it again. The storyline is linear, despite a few side quests, as with most RPG's, but I don't think I want to invest the time to "see if I can find anything new." Having said all that I did enjoy the game immensely, the game-play, sound and graphics as well as the lack of glaring technical problems all combined to make it an enjoyable game. I doubt this game will make a huge impact on the RPG gaming world, but it definitely has its place in it and I would recommend it to any RPG fan looking for a new and different gaming experience.
Old enough to remember the Ultima Underworlds? Hell I was already old back then *g* |

I have to laugh when I hear you guys talk about how old you are and the games "way back when". Those games are 10 or 12 years back and that might be old in the fast changing computer world but in human terms its nothing. I'm older than all of you(I"d wager on that) and the older I get the more it becomes obvious how little I really know. Those older games might of been something back then but now a days they wouldn't sell big. I played them all and think its ludicrous to compare them with todays games. |

Of course the older games wouldn't sell big today, because technically they are stone aged! But in terms of gameplay and immersiveness tehy had it all, more than *any* of today's games...think about that. |
