Hey... thanks for the info.

How come Gothic didn't come with this view built in? I guess Gothic 2 will have it?

Hmm...the game starts with so much equipment in the hero's hand? Lurker's Bite, Longbow, and Shadow's Dress?

Oops.

Sorry, that was a bug in the English version - the player shouldn't start with any equipment which isn't in the original game's beginning.

This has been corrected in ShakeyCam 1.1, which is now downloadable.

A cool mod, but not very effective for playing the game. It makes combat way too difficult. Especially when you're facing more than one enemy because your field of vision is drastically reduced.

I thought keeping melee combat as 3rd person largely solved that... oh well.

If you're just going to use 1st person for the view of of things then what is the point? You can already do that.

... not while moving, and not without going into that 'look around mode' specially.

I basically think it's more atmospehric and immersive.

Start GothicStarter.

Choose Gothic (ShakeyCam) from the list on the left.

Choose New Game.

Gothic should now start in Shakey mode

It's one or the other... although in ShakeyCam you can get 3rd person by drawing your weapon (or fists). Of course, in the world of Gothic, some people take offence at drawn weapons, but hey, no-one said it was safe out here on the cutting edge

You can possibly move save games between the Gothic and ShakeyCam savegame folders as well... Has anyone tried this?
