A few, if not most of the "free" mmorpgs that are available on the web are playable on a minimal system, without needing a 3D graphics card. Just browse through this thread and look at the games mentioned there. The graphics might not be extremely appealing in some cases, but at least they're free and don't require much hardware

Maybe this site is mentioned in that thread but just in case it isn't:

Lots of free mmorpg's there.

Also, you could check out Anarchy Online. It's a somewhat older game with not to steep system reqs.

They have a 7 day free trial. It's a big download so I hope you have a broadband connection.

Hope you find a game you can play on your rig and have fun

Asherons Call (the first one) has low low low system requirements. I remember playing that one on a crappy 300mhz.

Erm... As much as I like AO, the minimum specs require a pretty decent 3D card. I hardly think that AO could be played on an older notebook, unless it has a 3D card in there. And from what he said I don't think that's what he has

Oh well. I am starting to consider what I need to do to get myself a nice little gaming box together so I will let you know. I can't wait until I can get these games running on a machine that I own. I do know that I might get one of those 9800 cards.
