This afternoon, I could see a running (alpha ?) version of Arx !
And it was cool !
Sneaking elements are here, english voices are ready ( not fully implemented yet ), inventory seems to work fine, footsteps are thief-like (not as ridiculous as Deus Ex ones ...).
They're all working hard on the level design and debugging...
Thanx again Raf' ! |

Tell us more, more!!!. Are they really working hard. Hopefully they don't they have too long lunch breaks.
I'm only living 2790.3 Km from the Arcane Studio, maybe I should drop by for a little visit too. |

Yeah, rpgdot seems to be a wonderful place to meet dev teams from our favorite games ( specialy european ones )
And no, I hadn't smuggle a CD... the rooms wasn't dark enough and there's too much guards
(I love the thief series )
About thief; Arx seems to *include* all the sneaking stuff from thief !
yummy !

bad news: it is not official yet, but it seems Arx Fatalis has been postponed to Q1/2002

Yes I was, because a) the alpha I saw in june was quite advanced and b) Fishtank's products always made it in time, as far as i remember...
But I'd rather wait a couple of months for a perfect game instead of getting a buggy one now...

Why O why are RPG's being delayed all over the place? Corporate downsizing? The business surely isn't as lucrative as it used to be, could that affect the timeline? Is there an Alien Conspiracy involved? |

Definately a disappointment that it is being delayed, but better late (and bug free) than early and a buggy piece of junk that frustrates you into hating it. "Damn it, I lost all my items again!"

When a game is initially announced as being released this-and-that date, I secretly add 6 months to get a more realistic date.
But nonetheless I can can get dissapointed if it's then delayed like I expected...
Especially now since so many promising rpg's are being pushed back.
Ah well, *some* nice rpg must come out this year right? Just not the ones I was hoping for

Should we start taking bets on whether Pools of Radiance will be delayed? |

actually, it is delayed already - there is no crpg that made it in time, none except one (afaik): ultima underworld 2 was scheduled for a may 1993 release, but looking glass finished it until march 1993!
please enlighten me about others, though i doubt there's more!

I think that Thief 2 was in time (ok, not an RPG). And so far, things are looking good for Morrowind...

Why don't we start a betting pool forum with release dates and predicted push back dates. Whoever gets closest without going over the date wins.
