Though I disagree with much of Catholicism, and in particular their perceived fear of science, (and am critical of the current structure and state of organized religion as a whole) I *do* respect his faith and his championing of peaceful causes.

Pope is a title for life, or you should have pushed away by the highest circle of the Church to be "unpoped"

Edit: Actually, as I heard, he can request to have less duties or something like that - he's still the Pope though.
