Didn't know it was possible, but it might just be with a little editing. A few around here have lots of experience with editing, hopefully one of them will log on soon and let us know whether or not it is possible.

Greetings. I tried the following on Gothic (1), but I hope this may work on Gothic 2 too.

Press 'b' key. (You get the status screen.)
Type 'marvin' (No quotes!).
Press 'Escape'. (You leave the status screen. Instead of 'Esc' you could press 'b' again.)

This way you activated the 'Marvin' mode (for cheats etc).

Press 'F2' key. (It opens the console for entering commands.)
Type 'apply overlaymds humans_mage' (No quotes!) and press Enter.
Press 'Escape'. (You leave the console.)

(Because of autocomplete, it might be enough just to type 'a', 'p', 'o', to get 'apply overlaymds ' in the command line.)

Now, when you run, there's no difference. But when you move while holding Shift key (or having Caps Lock on), you walk like a mage, with arms crossed. Unfortunately, when you save the game, this 'overlay' is not saved, so whenever you load the saved game, you must enter above mentioned command on the console again, if you still want to walk like a mage.

You can leave the marvin mode if you press 'b', '4', '2', 'b' (or 'Esc').

There are more overlays, even a flying one. See the following post by Wulf for quite a long list of them:
