Which is better? Nevewinter Nights Single Player or BG2?

I never got a chance to play Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn, but i've been playin Neverwinter Nights and Shadows of Undrentide to death,

Was Baldur's Gate II better than NWN? Which was a longer RPG?

BG2 is more story oriented game, and NWN-singleplayer is much shorter graphical 3D battle game with less conversations and storyline and smaller cities and less shops and everything (and it has the teleport stone for inventory cleaning...)

There's really no comparison. BG2 is a FAR better game. The strength of NWN, is the online MP possibilities and the mods.

I agree with corwin here. BG2 has a very good story, and it is much more interesting to play in single-player mode than NWN. NWN is superb when it comes to network play. If you liked NWN main module BG is a must have.

Did Baldur's gate 2 or Lionheart: Legacy of the crusader have better animation?

Lionheart by a lot. After all, BG2 is what... 3 to 5 years old?

I don't agree. BG2 was out during middle/end of 2000 - about 3 years. The quality of animations very similar to IWD 1 & 2. I finsihed Lionheart and i'm sure the animations generally poorer than both titles, including the spell effects.

No comparison, NWN has Terrible single player, although multiplayer is uber fun.

No need to go that far, I think. NWN original campaign was quite sad, so to say, but some modules are fine even if played single player. And I think that Shadows of Undrentide is very good as a single player. Really good and very enjoyable though maybe too brief.

Someone should mention character development here, so I suppose I'll oblige. Character development in the BG series (based on 2nd ed rules) is rather slow and horrendously boring. The far more intricate 3rd ed rules make designing and growing characters in NWN much more enjoyable.

BTW, this belongs (and will get better responses) in the D&D general forum.

I enjoyed BG2 far more than NWN in singleplay. Graphicwise BG2 is getting old, but sound is still very good.
Dte has a good point concerning character development though, which is better in NWN. However, as far as conversations and depth go, BG2 is the better of the two. Not o mention the amount of actual (singleplayer) game-time Baldurs Gate II holds in the official campaign. Then there´s one official expensaion, and numerous fanmade ones.

Actually, I've been playin Lionheart and have seen a few videos of BG2. The animation in Lionheart is very robot like and unrealistic. BG2 seems much more fluid.

The backdrops of BG2 also seem much more vibrant.

BG2 by far. dte is dead right about the better character development in NWN's 3rd Ed. rules but I love having a full party to play with and that more than makes up for the disadvantages of 2nd Ed. for me.

BG2 is better than either of NWN's official campaigns, but if you include user made modules such as Dreamcatcher in the equation, NWN edges out the competition.

Baldurs Gate 2 and Throne of Bhaal are absolutely one of the BEST games i have ever played. Its also, besides Morrowind, the LONGEST freakin game ive ever finished. I played it non-stop for 2 whole months, every day for 9 hours per day. But then, i did as many quests as i knew about. Man, BG2 rocks. Believe these guys and get ready to ignore NWN for a few months. You wont regret it. I wish they would make a BG3, that would awesome.
