What is your favorite boss? |
|
I think great bosses play a big role in making a game great.
I have a few all time favorite:
1-The dragon of palace 6 in ZeldaII:adventure of Link-NES
2-The grim reaper from Castlevania-NES
3-The last boss which come running like hell at you with his big machine gun in Killing Time-3DO
4-Sephiroth in Final Fantasy VII-PSX
But the bosses in ZeldaII are my favorite. Like I said in an other thread, ZeldaII is my all time favorite game. I still play it once in a while. I think I'm a little nostalgic.

Hmm... Some aren't really bosses that you kill, but they are main villains.
Blackthorn from Ultima V. The way he was able to twist the virtues was chilling.
Jon Irenicus from BG2. Evil. Just the way I like my villains. I can still hear his condescending voice.
Katrina from Quest for Glory 4. There aren't many villains that make me feel sorry for them.
The Transcedent One from Planescape: Torment. What a complete monster! I was almost happy to kill myself to kill him. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!
What do I have to show for my hard work? A piece of paper! Wee!

Ghalleon from the two Lunar games was pretty wicked. Jon Irenicus is up there too. |

Why THE BOSS. You know, the one you fight at the end of THAT GAME. You have a big battle then after you beat them you get a cutscene and the game ends. Sorry, that was dumb.
But I think I agree with Jon Irenicus, the model that all my evilness is based off of. Steal MY power will you! _________________ Do you know how LAZY you Morrowind people are! Instead of getting up and fighting Dagoth Ur, you send someone to do it for you! Only I'm excused, I AM the king. |

As for general meanness by grace of a developer I liked El Oscuro from RotT. Not a CRPG, but I know of nobody who managed to beat him without the help of a walkthrough... even if it was soooo simple (just not what you thought it was).
As for CRPGs, my favorite bosses were Shodan from System Shock (1) and Jakel from LoL 3 (I mean, come on, a flying robe? Besides, he got on your nerves in LoL 1 so he deserved it. At least a little bit). _________________ Jaz |

While Irenicus is right up there, I have to agree with Jaz that Shodan in SS1 is by far the best. If you've never played it, make every effort you can to do so. She will totally creep you out!! _________________ If God said it, then that settles it!

Actually, for console games, The Boss is the coolest boss. No joke, check out Metal Gear Solid 3. You'll never find a cooler female character. _________________ Do you know how LAZY you Morrowind people are! Instead of getting up and fighting Dagoth Ur, you send someone to do it for you!
