Idea for a character. tell me if it can work. |
|
I want to make a merc that specializes in bows and dexterity based swords. These swords being the sword, the rapier, and the master sword. If I did this I dont think I would need to increase my strength at all. Strength doesnt directly effect the amount damage I do does it? If so I would probably only increase it every once in a while and use my bow as often as possible. And ill want to join the thieves guild as well.
So whaddya think? |

The only advantage of playing a merc is that u can create the best sword(s) in the game, but since these aint dex based and several monsters are immune to arrows id suggest spending a few pts on str. |

Your critical hits bonus is based on str not dex, so your crits would do no more damage than a regular hit. It's a bug.
Spoiler:
The strongest sword which you would make as a merc is the large ore dragon slayer, requires 100 str to wield. So, no, character would not work well.

Best sword Ive seen is my knights consecrated and then consecated again with the tears of innos 2 handed sword. it does 100 damage. Its called the Holy Avenger.
Jmurdock when you say that crit hits are based on str, not dex, do you mean crits with ranged weapons to? |

Swords and stuff, I think ranged weapons work correctly. _________________ Just watch out you don't stress yourself out.

Yeah, the double consecrated sword is the best as far as I'm concerned also.
Spoiler:
Since you only need 50 str to wield. The large ore dragon slayer does 110 damage though.

Yeah, but considering you'll be level 40 by the time it's all through, that's plenty of points for almost everything. _________________ Just watch out you don't stress yourself out.

Why would u think a sword that does 100dmg is better than 1 that does 110?
Is there a speed advantage or something ive missed? |

Only because the one that does 100 dmg needs less str to wield. _________________ Just watch out you don't stress yourself out.

Isn't critical hits based on skill percents? I'm almost sure it's so, at least it felt so when I played the game through as merc/DH. _________________

Your chance of making a critical hit is but not in direct proportion according to Gorath. I mean just because you have 100% on a weapon doesn't mean you'll make a critical hit every time. The Bonus talked about earlier is the damage bonus. _________________ Just watch out you don't stress yourself out.
