Do you know anything about Magic in Oblivion?

Given that magic in Morrowind was "dreadful", they should revamp the system which should make quite a noise but I haven’t heard anything worth getting excited about so if you have anything to share please do .Thanks!

Ok then, no one interested in magic ! Strange thing though no rpg game is "magicless" and is quite always an amusing and efficient way to solve problems...pity

You can cast in melee combat.

There will be spells with funny physics engine effects. (Correct me if I am wrong)

Sorry, never been much of a fan of magic! In RPGs I'm usually the guy at the front, waving a heavily-notched blade and wearing twice my bodyweight in metal armour.

haha sorry Alohan, Guess like myself we are more into Warrior Combat

Like i said in the other post you can fight and then quickly launch a spell out then continue to fight its nice so even if you're a mag you can start bashing some ppl with a staff or what ever mages use then launch a nice fireball in there face

Im more interested in Shields , One and Two Handed Swords and Bows i dont like crossbows or axes.

Also about magic Fire has and always will be my favorite elemental power its pretty neat as it is in real life.

Lightning being my second.

So are you gonna use magic 100%? When the game comes out for PC you should let me know what kinda spells there are and what you get like if you get some really powerful spells like huge meteors or something take some shots

EDIT: forgot to add although im the warrior and like to use bows , swords and etc and not magic i do like alchemy like creating potions i also like magical weapons like Swords permenalty enchanted or runed with Fire or Lightning or poison and creating potions like poisining you're weapon i like cool stuff like that i hate when you poison a weapon it wears off tho like in Arx.

I dont like magic because it wasnt that good in Morrowind. I truly hope the characters wont run waving their arms and shooting green poison balls.

Yeah it looked like they were throwing potato sacks full of **** at each other

I just dont like Mages because they are weak pysically and the robes they wear etc make them look even more weak there smart and have strong magic there mind is strong but there body is weak thats why i like the warrior you're using you're own skill you're own power to fight the enemies.

and plus you get to wear heavy armor and just crush ppl

Mod: Edited profanity

One thing I really liked about Daggerfall and Morrowind - and hope will be the same in Oblivion - is that warriors really can stand on their own. As long as you have a silver weapon or better you can damage all creatures - you don't need enchanted weapons, buffs, or potions to get on in the world. Daggerfall was slightly better in this respect allowing for wall-climbing, but Morrowind thankfully only requires a little levitation here and there.

One of my favourite Morrowind character types to play is the Orcish tank, with lots of hit points, heavy metal armour and a stout sword. You meet challenges in the most direct way possible, by application of force. It has a real purity about it!

I hope those magical weapons&armors look less annoying this time.I just hated the stupid glouw.Really if you were wearing a magic armor and sword you looked like a christmas tree.

Therefore my favorite mod was just a tiny plugin which just disabled the echanted effect (in other words the xmas effect).

Hey guys! Don't begin a magic haters club or do it elsewhere...A mage is nearly unbeatable IF the game includes good magic, what we had in Morrowind, I will translate it to you to "warrior language" , is a warrior with a stick and some raged cloths with a metal belt and old socks and a paper shield! HOW was I supposed to defeat monsters with that "?...?...?"! Were you able to kill (not to finish off) the giant bull netch with the cursed fork?!! !! So I had to brandish hammers and swords with my weak hand until it became a mass of muscles!!

In a game (let's hope Oblivion) were magic is good and balanced, the tale of a mage begins like this: weak from aging in a cold and damp prison, he sees light for the first time in ??? years, they laugh at him, ragged cloths he wears, he’s pushed by a knight on his steed, and falls in a pill of weed, an old man as he is, vengeance he swears, seeks the path of immortality by any means necessary, he recovers his powers his energy, continues his half finished theories, and one year while the knight and his friends go hunting a dragon, they find it slain and it's heart taken, they find a strange mark written on a rock behind them, it was in blood, dragon's blood explosive dragon blood, it was vengeance, they were trapped, the dragon awakens, the mage controls it, he'll have knight for tonight.

Isn't it simple? a mage starts weak yes but by the beginning-middle part of the game (if trained by good hands) it will be as good as a knight/warrior in middle game, and by the end of the game no one will be able to come near a mage so who cares if he has 1 hit point or 1/2 hit point, whereas a warrior without enough hit points is dead meat without it's armor ...
Well I hope you get my point.

Well thats the thing it was pretty impossible for both sides to fight anything in Morrowind Magic or Combat because they were both unbalanced and crap lol.

Mage ive always though of cowards you just stay back and release long range spells all day wheres the skill in that and in most cases the magic is over powered it just gets boring and if you get close to the enemies usually a few chops and you're dead.

I like rushing in and start fighting not just clicking a button and shooting out the same spell at them until they are dead, with warrior you block you move around you fight not just run around shooting a spell and running away

Its funny how the muscle bound grunts preach about courage, just before they get slaughtered.

Dont see many old warriors do you?

Magic users arent cowards, they just arent stupid enough to put themselves in danger when its not necessary. Warriors yelling coward is just an expression of their frustration because they cant even get close to the mage before they are dead =0P

Mages are cheap and all they do is stay 50 feet away throwing spells but do they dare come close? no and as soon as they run out of mana then they start running

I laughed my head off some free mmorpg game i downloaded i was just playing around i say this mage go up to a orc not really close he throws a fireball it doesnt die then it starts to run after him and what does he do turns around and starts running LOL one slash and hes dead

Well I like the idea that intelligence wins from strenght in the end. But courage has to win from cowardice too! so I like the fighter mage combo the best, going melee while boosted by many powerful spells
