I believe there will be 4 paths: Good and fight for the king as a paladin, Good and fight with Lee and talk him out of killing the king, Good and assist the king as a fire mage, Good and fight along with Xardas as a necromancer, because Xardas said sth about: "I'm as much a servant of Beliar as you are of Innos." That's why I believe Xardas isn't bad neither and will assist the people against the orcs.

The storyline possibilities are vast. However, aside from the story itself, here are a few things I would like to see in G3.

1. Ability to import G2 character and perhaps start in a different chapter.

2. If you clear an area of baddies, then have the option in dialog to tell someone about it to allow escapees or inflow of trade which doesnt happen if you dont clear an area. This clearing is NOT part of a quest.

For example, many people cleared the path from the castle to the pass of all enemies. Yet Gerond still kept insisting he was surrounded by orcs. (I went over the fence and read the sign, so I know there were none in hiding)

3. The ability to choose a path WITHIN the magic circle, ie: perhaps you need to specialise in summoning etc.

4. More relience upon experience and money than chapter. For example, if you could stealthilly run around and accumilate massive XP's and gold in chapter one, then you can have the best armor available or the best rune etc. But this would require as much time and effort as if you actually went through each chapter.

This would appeal to the "thourough" and "methodically prepared" type of player, but would have no disadvantage to those who want to rush in headlong from chapter to chapter.

5. Get rid of the severe weapon specialization XP's requirement, and make the maths a little more in accord with the rules given in the instruction manual.

6. Bring back the inventory sectioning of G1

7. Make the profiteering a standard 100% margin, not 300%.

8. Return the ability to cancel the entire transaction before you leave the transaction dialog so that pressing the button wrong doesnt cost you thousands.

9. If you choose New game from the menu whilst a game is in progress, it prompts you first. (The amount of times, I went to save, only to have the save option not available and hit enter too fast causing a new game to start was very frustrating)

10. The ability to "wound" with a bow or crossbow instead of always kill. (Lets face it, in real life, a few swipes with a sword is just as likely to kill as a shot with an arrow or bolt)

Perhaps a separate "fire" button if the intention is wounding and not killing for both melee and ranged. Rather than having the computer decide if the victim is dead or unconscious.

mud always got on my nerves... i hated that guy, but every time i lured him away from the city and attaked he would say shit and run back to the castle and sleep his wounds away, but i did love killing him with a bow and watching him drop to the ground if he returns in gothic three i want him to be a bad mother f***er who is pissed off about every one picking on him and when you tell him to piss off he will attack you! then i can kill him with even more satisfaction

edit: any opinions on whether mudd should be stronger or not?

Hey guys

I've read thru the thread here and you guys do have some wonderful ideas abt the predictions of future Gothic games !!!!

In addition to all that are mentioned in earlier post,
I thought I'll just add in a few things that kinda running around my head:

I do believe many possilities can go into gothic 3 and so forth.
As someone mentioned....I don't think Xardas is wholly bad and in a way will become a main enemy of the hero. There is almost a father / son relationship btw the 2 of them.

Lee been talking and talking abt revenge and there is a deep hatred in him. His vendettas to me, seems to be almost an obsession.
For all we know...Lee may get out of hand in his quest to revenge on the King that HE himself become evil??
Its seems this leading to either a smooth sail or goes totally sour.

Remember Abuyin and Randolph and Edda.
The people form the south who generally have a darker skin tone, like Gorn and Mario . So there is not just Myrtana, Khorinis and VOM...maybe some new lands from the south/North/east/west will get into Gothic 3?

We have ur Shak and Tarrok, which are good orc that we've come in contact with....so maybe we do have a chance to meet a new orc site/camp/guild that are more hospitable and friendlier to humans?
So far all this time, we only seen the orc fighters and warriors...but he have not yet seen a single orc farmer / orc trader or an orc citizen.
Maybe we will meet Tarrok, the orc that the hero saved from minecrawler poisoning in Gothic 1. Maybe Tarrok will be the one who introduce the hero to a friendly Orc guild ?

Hmmm......Lester and Angar will never get rid of their facial tattoos ( no laser surgery yet) so that leave a big question..will they still be lone, independent travellers or will they form another new guild?
I HOPE they will not turn bad..I just love these ex-sect guys.

Here is what I want to se in Gothic III:

1) I want to see horses. A wanderful animal that can be a faitful companion and also a nice way of geting around faster. I want to see heards of wild horses. Maybe a new skill will be required: horse-breeder which will allow you to tame wild horses. Horses shouldn't be all the same. For instance a high-level horse will have more HP, will be faster and will not tire as quickly as a low-level horse. Horses are also very fearful. You will not be able to take down a snaper while on horse because the horse gets scared and flees, and after that you will not be able to control him for a short perioud of time and if not a skilld horse-breeder(rider) you will very probably fall. I want the horses to be as hard to buy or tame as in the real world were when they still were an important part in man's life. The horse you ride will gain experience whenever you do, and a high-level horse will be less fearful then a low-level horse. Maybe you could take down a snaper while riding a level 7 horse.

2) I want to see new guilds, others then militia, mercenaries and mages. I thought about some: 1. raiders. They are nomad people very skilled with horses and highly trained archers. They shoot arrows from their horses into their enemies both while ataching and retreating, just like mongols. 2. knights. They are also skilled with horses but their primer weapon is the one handed sword which combined whith the horses speed can do heavy damage to the enemy on the battlefield. Knights will be definitely the kings elite. I only hope you could join both guilds.

3) In the end of Gothic III I want to see all man united, loyal to the king, mercenaries, mages, and others, against a common foe, the orcs. Something like in Lord of The Rings The Two Towers. I want to see a great battle which in the end we win. We only won one battle but the war has just begun, the war against Xardas, who drove the orcs mad, and his army of minions. I let the war with Xardas for Gothic IV when maybe some orcs will join us and help us improve our technology to fight back Xardas.

4) It would be interesting for the caracter to have a girlfriend. He was so lonely. I think he deserves this.

WOW If someone at PB ever reads this thread they will be in for big trouble because as I understood earlier they developed G2 accordingly to some of the sugesstions of the fans.
But the introduction of horses is a valid ideea. The only problem is how to make the hero fight when mounted. It is hard to make such an animation and if you have to dismount whrn fighting it would be annoying.
One solution would be a very long spear and then fighting when mounted would be like "jousting"(I hope I spelled it right)

I WANT A SHIELD IN GOTHIC3 THAT YOU CAN USE WITH SECOND MOUSE BUTTON AND 1H WEAPON

I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT PLLLLEEEAAAAAAASSSSEEE

i think the armor should come in different pieces... (ie: boots, shield, helmet, chest) that way you would have to make more money to buy all the pieces and raise the difficulty, and you could mix and match and either look really trendy or like you were smoking dope while getting dressed also i think they should have two blades available (like the ones legolas has in LoTR) that way you could add even more variety to fighting style and not to mention it would look tight

Well, the way I see it or guess it..

Obviously the main char, our nameless hero, isn't just a boob off the streetssent to colony for stealing the cookies. Granted, there's not much, if any at all, information on the chars background, but somehow I guess or feel that the char was in quite high ranking in Kings court. Or perhaps was somewhat related to king, i.e. some son of a distant relative (and he didn't even know that) and king was afraid that he will take over the throne. There's quite few choices here, but it's obvious that by kings personal command he was sentenced and thus the king must have seen him as a threat to him personally. So based on this, I guess the final goal for the main char would be to restore the kingdom and become it's new king.

King is NOT YET dead. The Fearo in the castle tells that he THINKS that the king is dead "by now", but he does not know. When he went, the war was going on, king was alive and war was going bad for him. So he just guesses. The spiritist near Merchant Square tells that the king will lose the war, but nothing that the king will be killed. And, we know that Lee has some personal scores to settle with the king, for allowing him to be sentenced and sent to colony, although knowing that Lee did not kill his wife. So there's a chance that it's Lee who actually will knock Rhobar's lights out, but - it may not be so. Lee's not a stupid man and he's much more intelligent then that, to fall into rage for a blind revenge. In any case, no idea yet, there are few ways this can be played out. Orcs can kill the king, Lee can, you can - who knows, we'll see.

Xardas, now that's a tricky thing.. No doubt he wanted the power always, and thus he helped you each time, because you were the only means for him to get that power. So in a way he did use you, yes. But also, he - at least so far - doesn't seem to be so obviously bent on destruction and taking over the kingdom or the realm. Also in some cases he wanted to help you just for the helping itself, not just for personal power gain. After all, what's so good in a destroyed realm, what will you command there anyway But, still, everything is possible. Xardas can be just a damn good and clever person and learn from all the mistakes the previous 'baddies' did (the Sleeper and Undead Dragon) and try to do things differently to get his own wishes fulfilled. He does know that if he goes into the war against the realm, it means that at some point he will face the main char in the game, and he knows that the main char IS a very strong opponent, after all, he has defeated already 2 big enemies, foiled 2 BIG plans trying to take power. So, all is possible. Maybe he will try to take over the realm, maybe he will even try to replace the Beliar himself - all is possible. Right now I doubt that he will settle on reading the books and studying some lore. In any case, if he becomes an enemy, you will be very dangerous enemy to him, as well as he will be very dangerous enemy for you - you both know each other, although he may know you tad more.

As for the game start - I don't know, starting again as a newbie for the 3rd time would be tad silly, but I do not outrule it. Maybe they just need to make the 3rd part as a high level game and allow you to import your char from old game. It is quite well known fact that if you try to do ALL the quests and kill all the mobs, throughout all the chapters and such, you can be level 42 to 46. That's pretty high. Maybe they will let you import your char at some lower level, say, you start at lvl 30. Maybe they will make the new game starting off of level 45, so that you can import your char fully. And, maybe, they make you start from 0 again. You see, at the end of the game, after the titles, there is ONE hint that your current party may get separated again for some time and you get - yet AGAIN - into another accident. The overloaded ship with the gold, possible incoming storm - doesn't it sound as the obvious hint?

As for what guilds will be - I suppose mercenaries will be there, since Lee heads over and I bet that many of his 'loyal' followers will come too, or Lee gets them over. Paladins - possible, although they would then be in low numbers - after all, the war will obviously lost and paladins would be reduced to very low numbers in some secluded or remote frontier keep, area in what orcs are maybe not really interested in and thus allow the paladins to linger there. Fire Mages would probably be with them, low in numbers as well. Water Mages is a possibility, they would be probably hidden somewhere, but their agents would be around, at the paladins and fire mages and in some other areas. Beliar guild - possible, maybe Xardas will found one. It wont be a long secret to Beliar followers that the Xardas is now the Beliar representative in the realm and they would simply come to him, to follow him. You know, this could even add to the plot a twist - you join Xardas and become Beliar follower (evil player) in this case, and idea is that you secure the following evil kingdom and, being such a powerful person, challenge somewhere, somehow, Beliar himself and defeat him, thus making Xardas a new evil god and you his first hand in the human realm. Nah, too "big thing" maybe heheh.. But it would add a twist and you could play now 2 types: "evil" as I described above, and "good" who will defeat orcs, defeat maybe Beliar with Xardas's help and then when he turns against you to become the god himself, you beat him too. Ah well, we can fantasize

In any case, we'll see eventually what will happen, I just hope that with Gothic 3 the FINALLY do so, that the english release is at the same time as german one.

Destruction of all that we know

I predict we return on our ship and find that all of Khorinis is decimated. Not just in chaos but absolute destruction. No one is sure why, and while you suspect Xardas had something to do with it, you can't imagine him reeking total havoc. You and your shipmates split up to salvage any old friends, loot, etc. Rather quickly, you find Mud, who insists upon following you around, claiming was hiding the entire last game. This time, however, he has some info on what happened.

You and Mud somehow gain a ship and sail to a different land, where on the way Mud beats you mercilessly in your sleep, steals all your equipment, and to your amazement has in the meanwhile become a powerful mage which has sapped all your abilities and absorbed them. He alone wields power to combat Xardas, the fire magician stragglers, and whomever else. Hahah.
