questions about skills. Spoiler's possible.

I chose to play a Knight and I am beginning to wonder if that was a mistake. The speachcraft skill is hard to boost and I have Medium armor as a skill. My question is did I limit myself to low levels. Do I need to get some medium armor to boost that skill? Where should I store my heavy armor?

Is there any easier way to boost speachcraft? Is there any easy way to boost mercantile? I am only 3rd level after 6 hours of play. Is that normal?

Thanks in advance.

Well, the way armor works is kinda interesting.

Since your main armor skill is medium, then just wear medium armor, you get a higher armor rating from the highest armor skill you have (light, medium or heavy).

Example:

You have 30 in medium armor
You have 15 in heavy armor

You're looking at two sets of armor, both chest pieces one is heavy and the other is medium.

At these levels, the heavy piece might be 1-2 points higher than your medium, but once your medium skill raises a little more that medium chest piece is going to show more armor rating than the heavy piece. Of course, if you could max every skill heavy armor would be better, but if you choose medium or light you're going to have great armor ratings because of your specialty in that skill.

Armor skills go up over time, like when you're in combat and you get hit and stuff, you wear the type of armor you want to boost the skill in.

Not exactly sure how to make your speachcraft/mercantile boost, it just kinda happens when I'm not paying attention.

We're playing similar classes, but I did a custom class based off the Crusader idea, I just switched a few skills around to reflect some bonuses I got with the Nord race.

Don't you boost speechcraft by persuading / intimidating people when you're talking with them, and boost mercantile by bargaining for lower prices or simply buying / selling stuff in stores? I haven't gotten the game yet, but that's what I read.
