Well I'll defrag my hard drive and check what Windows may be running for me in the background and see if that sorts out the crashing issues (which continue).

Defrag is must, as well as update all drivers. For WinXP try this site for tips to shut down unneeded XP options.http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm It really freed up available ram for me.
