Can I fight in there? Or is it just a big arena with nothing to do. I want to be a gladiator or something. Is that possible?

You will be able to duel a couple of people in there through the course of the game.

There's a rather popular plug-in available that adds a whole tiered arena combat system that's apparently pretty cool. Haven't tried it myself. You can find it at Morrowind Summit, I think. www.rpgplanet.com/morrowind/

Enjoy.

Yeah. I felt as if you should be able to choose it as a profession to gain cash and stats. I was dissapointed that it was not very usefully used in the original game. Only there for a few quest. Oh well, Gothic had the same flaw.

The arena is like any other object in the game. It's jus there for show, not for play. Like the floating barrels, boats, planks, shells, rocks, stumps, you name it. Just graphics to no avail.

Mattias Kreku regurgitated:

"The arena is like any other object in the game. It's jus there for show, not for play. Like the floating barrels, boats, planks, shells, rocks, stumps, you name it. Just graphics to no avail."

Actually, the assorted objects you described above DO have a use, as you well know, Mattias. You can either find objects within them, or store objects in them, excluding those items for which storage capability is an impossibility i. e. a plank and the like.

Tell me a game that you have played in which an object like a plank or a rock CAN be used, and is not there just for show... Off the top of my head, I can thionk of exactly zero. And, I suppose, if one COULD use a plank, for instance, it would be in a pre-determined, linear fashion, such as stacking the planks to be able to jump up to another area, or "building" some such wooden object needed within the game.

Besides, what posible use could one have with objects like shells and rocks? If the answer is "I want to collect them in-game" or other such nonsense, this certainly isn't the game for you, then.

I agree that the arena could have been utilized in a much better fashion, but to say that it is just for show (when it IS used in game), and is the same as other, as you describe, static objects, when, in fact, they also can be used, is intellectually dishonest.

Stop trying to apply your disappointment in Morrowind and its shortcomings to the game as a whole. I have seen similar "broad-brush" generalities posted by you before, but this time I just could not be silent.
