Any ideas why one could have a problem playing online?
While my computer and connection are fine a family member is having difficulty with connecting to a server and/or being connected to. It always says: "server timed out, connection failed, etc.."
He says he is not running a firewall. He IS connected to Cox cable and all other internet services; IE surfing and chatting, are running fine.
I'm sorry I can't give much more info but if you guys have any ideas I would be deeply indebted to you for helping.

Hrm... so their connection is fine, you say? Then they have got to have something blocking the connection or keeping their system so busy that it can't respond in a timely fashion. Sometimes your virus scanning software will come with a firewall. Are they shutting off all the programs running in the background? Are they having problems with other online games (actual games like HL2 or Warcraft 3)? Do they connect through a proxy server? _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

I got the same message when I tried to log using wrong server IP and also when I didn't have the same version as the server was running. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

As Val more or less suggested, check first if it's only NWN giving the problem. There's various reasons (as CM pointed out) that you get that with NWN. If it's totally game related, then we can narrow it down better. _________________ If God said it, then that settles it!

Well, we found out that one of the issues was a virus infection containing about 217 viruses. Niiiiiice!
However, he is still having issues. I have asked him to sign up and post the details so we can help him get online and playing with eveyrone!
Thanks for everything! I will keep you posted!
