FALLOUT 2... *drools on the floor*.
I probably said it hundred times "I Love this game" (all time favorite). Doesn't matter how many times you played, every time you start, you're bent to find something funny you missed before.
VERY IMPORTANT: First download the patch then create the character. <The patch doesn't support previously saved games>

I dont know if you mean the patch that I am thinking of but
there is one really stupid patch that makes children "invisible"
and some other bad changes...

Dont install the pach! You can do alot o funny things without it. 
Like walking into the vault in vault city when your not allowed to. (just use combat mode)... |

You can do the vault thing even post patch. But that's kind of an exploit and it deteres from the game.
In the beginning, you're supposed to get through the temple of trials, by whatever means necessary (sneak/run like hell/fight... whatever your character is best at). After the temple, you're supposed to talk to the old lady and she'll tell you what to do next.
I think I played that game about 12 times by now (to the end). The only thing I could never bring myself to do is be a totally evil character and play through all the way wiht intelligence of less than 4. I gave up by the time I got to the Vault City. But having a conversation with Torn (or whatever the village idiot is) was just too cool.
