Well, as there is nothing comparable to the Breton/Sign of the Atronarch combo, i modded the darkelves to become:
+ 0.5 times magicka
+ 25% magicka resistance
+ 25% fire resistance
Actually, i would have done all races differently, i.e. having one major benefit, one minor benefit and potentionally one minor drawback.
Also, it would have been much more useful that major skills may become 100+ racial skill bonus max (= wood elves marksman max 115 for example), minor skills 90+racial skill bonus max and finally misc. skills 75+ racial bonus max).
But I came to the conclusion the game designers actually wanted to enable the players to play an Uber Hero if they like... If not, the breton/atronarch combo, some items (robe, helmet etc.  ) wouldn't be in, would they?
It's anyway just coolest to follow the story-lines/quests, of which some are surprisingly well done. |

well I can't vote cause I'm not registered but I would vote for Breton
They just have the best abilities IMHO.
I don't like the Atronach birthsign though. To much trouble to regain magic, I'd rather have half as much magic and just be able to sleep when I need more than go through all that trouble. |

i like the wood elf, the sneaking + marksman combo is great.
I can take out enemy's before they see me.
Looks like dirty thief to.

Wood Elves:
As everyone, regardless of race or if the skill is major/minor/misc can achieve 100 points in any skill, all racial skill boni are useless beside the very beginning 
Atronarch:
It's so very easy to regain mana with this sign, its even better than restoring it while sleeping, because you just don't even have to!
* Summon ancestor ghost and attack (hand-to-hand)
* Pray at any shrine
* Open trapped chests, doors etc.
I almost never run out of mana and if so there's still my little handy ring of summone ancestral ghost
