I don't find hunting worth a damn. You only get 5 ore for each wolf skin, and that's really not worth the risk.
As for money, you can make some nice amount of ore by going to the Brotherhood sect. Along the way, the guy who leads you will kill various things along the path. Bloodfly wings sell for a really good amount of ore. Once you get there, you can get three swampweed joints per day for free. Those sell pretty well.
You can also get 50 units of swampweed free, per day, over and over again, after doing a quest.
As for pickpocket, where exactly do you get trained for this?
Also, not all the tutors in the game charge for skills. Diego doesn't, I haven't found anyone in the Brotherhood of the Sleeper that charges for it, the Old Camp hunter that lives West of the main gate on the Old Camp doesn't charge to teach Sneak or Bow.
As for the Armor thing, you'll get free armor when you join up with the Brotherhood. I'm sure that's the same for all the sects.

The tip of the iceberg is that when i tried to play it on my big mega machine rather then the mere p500 i had been playing it on before...it gave me an "access violation". So now i cant even play the blasted thing.

Is that really true?
Well, combine it with the Wolf Teeth and you will found out that you have reearned the money pretty quickly.
I found that knowledge to be the quickest way to be money independent (except for picklocking the chests).
Pickpocket is useless. You dont get all you want, and later on you can GET all you want by beating up people.
Then PP is wasted XP.
You must pay for armor in both NC and OC.

Really? The Shadows in Old Camp don't give you armor when you join them? That seems kind of odd.
It's also odd that the Novice Loincloth costs the same as the Digger Pants, but gives you better protection against fire. |

By the time I was asked to pay 1200 Ore for the armor I had over 7000...
I was only happy when I could find a use for the Ore.
