On the cups riddle, It looks like that one works as well, but I am not sure about the last two steps...I am in need of food to think clearly. |

Cups? do you mean the Lazy susan or the 8 BB's?
number 7 of random riddle page: Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is.
What is it?
Solution: laguage - there are 3 words in "the English language" the third is language (it's taken from Planescape - Torment... or it's the contrary?) _________________ =Member of the NonFlamers' Guild=

Yog,
I have not eaten yet , but here is the smiley I owed you .
The "gry" question is an old internet question, and the answer is Hungry, angry, and gry. Gry is the dirt under your fingernails, or a small trivial object. This def'n can only be found in old, or very complete dictionaries! English is a *very* weird language - due in a large part to the fact that it is so polyglot.
The glasses problem I wasn't clear about was the Lazy Susan. I *think* Michael sol'n is good...I just lost it at the end... I fully intent to revisit it after I eat

number 9 from random riddle page:Three men are out in a rain storm and are trying to find a place to stay. They come to a hotel and ask the clerk how much it costs for one room for one night. The clerk tell them that it is $25 a night. The three men consult with each other and decide that they can't split 25 into 3 evenly, so they tell the clerk that they will pay $30 for the room so that each person can pay $10. The clerk agrees and they go to their room.
The hotel manager was watching and when they had left he came out and told the clerk that he could not take the extra money from them and that he was to the extra five dollars back up to the people.
As the clerk was going to the room, he thought to himself that it was not possibe to split five into three evenly, so he took two dollars and gave the three remaining dollars to the men.
Each one of the men got one dollar back, so that means that each paid $9 instead of $10. Now 9 times 3 is 27, plus the two that the clerk took makes it 29. What happened to the missing dollar?
Solution: the problem is that we have to do not: 30$ - 3$ + 2$ = 29$ but 30$ - 3$ + (-2$) = 25 $ the real cost of the room or 25$ + 3$ + 2 $ = 30$
if you start with 30 the 2 that the clerk takes are to be removed, if you start with 25 are to be add _________________ =Member of the NonFlamers' Guild=

Ofcourse it works What did you expect?
Lintra The last riddle on your original list "Hats down". I can't find that riddle. And I can see that we already have made good solutions for many of the riddles from the first link, from the original page. We may need a new list of remaining riddles from this link if there are any left? |

@Michael C: just look at the beginning of the riddle page, there are links to all the riddles and there is "Hats down", but in the main/page it's name is changed.
Good work for the lazy susan!! _________________ =Member of the NonFlamers' Guild=

Okay from the first link from original page:
No.6: Odd fish weight 1 pound = ½ odd fish + ½ pound.
No.8: The man did go back to the poor looking hair dresser, maybe because he expect lower prices there!
No. 16: Letter "E".
No. 17: Make sure the coins you leave every time is a number in the 7 times table, and you will always win! Always one more than the max number of allowed coins to move! |

I have been working on the hat riddle, and I figure the given the prior riddles there is, most likely, a way to win 100% of the time. I just don't know what it is.

Hats off: No communication is allowed, and they all answer at the same time, giving them absolutely no clue of their own hat colour! If only one answer there are 50% chance to win. but if 2 answers there are only ½X½=1/4= 25% chance to win, and even less if all 3 answers. At least one must answer a hat-colour, so 50% chance is the best! |

Michael,
I could be wrong, but I feel there is something we are missing here. Some funny part of the wording that we are not using. They answer of 50% is supplied with the riddle, I can not believe that is the final sol'n. I am just stumped |

Lintra: Yep, feel the same way. The "Hats off" riddle seems stupid if there were not a better solution than 50%. I have read the riddle many times now, but can't find the glitch! |

For the Barber riddle, the poor looking barber cuts the good looking barber's hair and vice versa, so the poor looking barber is a better barber.
For the Horse/Friday riddle, A man rides to town on Friday, stays 3 days, and leaves on Friday works very easily if the Horse's name is Friday. _________________ "It's not denial, I'm just very picky about which reality I choose to live in" Calvin&Hobbes |
