I don't know if it was in this thread or another but I recommend XP if you're looking to buy a OS.. But if you allready have 98 that works fine also. as long as there is no NEED to upgrade, why bother? _________________

Ive had nothing but fun with Xp, its a good product as far as I can see. I havent had any problems with it.(knocks on corrugated wood) So much for fears of no backward compatibility, I have been able to run almost everything I wanted to on it. There have been a couple win 95/98 progs that didnt work, but the system just shells out and totally abandons it, I never get a total lockup or blue screen of death. The restore feature looks like it could be a potential lifesaver, and the networking is way streamlined. Its really easy to set up a LAN with it, its great for any type of networking. You can also use more RAM with it. The only thing I hate about it(and this started with win200 because my pc at work does it too) is that that its all set up for multiples users and everything is out of documents and settings and all that. I like it simple, you know, Cdrive, all the folders off it, etc. Now its split into multiples and Im the only user. I hate that. but thats it, besides that it works good. _________________ “Then away out in the woods I heard that kind of a sound that a ghost makes when it wants to tell about something that's on its mind and can't make itself understood, and so can't rest easy in its grave, and has to go about that way every night grieving.”-Mark Twain |

*sets down the Linux idea and runs from it*
I have enough trouble just getting things that are supposedly "hassle free" to run. Everytime I am installing a new game or program, Ive got my fingers crossed hoping that it will run.
This is the problem here micro$oft is making people that uses computer be dummys with them. It makes things to easy for people at what cost at the cost of security because it is the OS with less security right now. But now they claim that windows palladium would be the most secure of all the OS but what they sacrifice "freedom" If you can live without freedom well then good for you but for me I'm no robot. Microsoft is brainwashing everybody to think microsoft is the best. What does Bill Gates said to make people believe in the change to windows? This: "Linux is 1960's technology with a new development model". After that every stupid people who doesn't have his own reasoning started thinking the way Bill gate does. But thats super stupid come on now there are free distributions of linux which are as easy or easier than windows without risking security (for example Mandrake) How much does Micro$oft office? Overpriced? well look for star office or open office they are free and completly compatible and as good or superior than Micro$oft office.
Ok I will follow this tonight cause i have to go to class Bye. _________________ "Whow, the necromancer is here" -Bartacus to myself |

*Sneaking through the bushes, Val spies her prey. An aged creature ready to be culled from the herd, but didn't have the decency to die when it should have. Time to be the servant of evolution once more, she thinks as she raises the sights to her eye, takes aim and gently pulls the trigger...*
