Oh yes, the missing part is very ... explicit, which is quite unusual for a US game.

Shrapnel, you are probably right. The first installments of series normally haven't got much background lore. I think that TES1: Arena ( which I don't own ) is no exception. And just the existence of previous installments already adds lore to a game, because it adds a history.

I also think that many gamers are not interested in detailed background lore and in-game books. Especially when you consider that one of the highest ranking features of Gothic is the voice acting. And G2, with it's living and breathing world, will be great with or without detailed lore.

But detailed lore can further improve the feeling of realism and the atmosphere of a game. It definitely increased my enjoyment of games like Daggerfall, MW, Arcanum etc.

i dont hate morrowind But i absolutely HATE IT when ppl say that it beats gothic in every aspect....

Morrowind was so fun in the beggining (except for the annoying battle system) but after 6-7 hours of gameplay, i found myself thinking wtf? this stupid kill 4 guys quest again? after about 10 hours i deleted morrowind and gave it away to my friend, he absolutely hated it

the first few minutes i played gothic, i was ready to give up cause i couldnt figure out how to equip stuff. I tried a couple of combination and finally figured it out.

2 hours later.......

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gothic beats Morrowind IMO

It's because of hoyp's long one-word sentence which I now took the liberty to shorten along with deleting some other of his one- or two-word posts.

This is no kindergarten, so please stop shouting (write all caps). Besides, double (or triple-, quadruple-) posting is considered very bad style and spam. If you feel you have something important to add to an older post of yours before somebody else has replied, folks, just edit your old post instead of posting twice (or more often) in a row!

For me, I could care less about reading books and lore in a game. I wouldn't even open one unless I think I can raise my stats. Anyway, I think they wasted too much time creating so many books in MW, when almost none of the NPCs have anything unique or interesting to say.

I've already preordered both. Since Tribunal should arrive more than two weeks earlier then G2 I'll play that first. It will also make the waiting more bearable.

I will get the MW expansion.
I have all the other games, so I figure I should keep the tradition!

If you go to Gamespot.com, they have a list of who is taking preorders...
But sometimes they don't have a list...
