i was wondering if you people have environmental audio in your game..i mean when you would enter a temple you would get echo effects or a cave...special sounds effects..when i enter a cave or temple i don't hear any echo sounds , things like that...the sound blaster live had all those great new sound effects..i now have the newest sound card from philips..damn damn good...but i don't know how to get these sound effects...

Does Gothic support them?
Maybe they are just too new, so yet unsupported.

well,.i put my env.audio on bathroom in my audio settings...and then you have great sound effects..for example in the temple you have a nice echo there, but the downside is if you go outside the echo is still there...and that ain't how i want it...

hi, I worked on the sound system of gothic

the indoor locations (orctempel, the mines)
add an optional reverb effect.

there really was a plan to fully implement the eax specs for every location, but that was canceled due to time issues

however, in indoor levels you can enable the reverb effect in the audio settings.

regards,

hmmm..weird..i have the reverb setting on, and in the windows sound options too..so both game and in windows..but i don't hear reverb-like effects indoor..so you mean like for example...if there would be a church in gothic you could hear the echo when walking around?

did you turn on AutoEAX and select a slot other than "no effects" ?

But doesnt that make every place have that "churchy" sound?

oh!
I thought you had a creative soundblaster card. The software I use is audioHQ. They have the eax control panel and mixer in the system tray.

Thats what the PB guy was talking about(I think). The eax was incomplete since the last temple was without the special environment sound.

But phoo! The temple would be waay laggier(around the you know where). *wink* *wink*

*cough* lava pit
