ive been accepting jobs from both the trang and umpani. i even gave both alliance letters to the mook in arnika and he accepted them both! i even had to bribe he'li to keep her mouth shut cause she knew i was a doubleagent. now im at the point where trang wants me to kill umpani and vice versa, but im gonna do the peaace mission insted. i think theres a great advantage to playing both sides since you get tons more experience for doing their quests. don barlone gave me this clever idea did anyone else here try to follow this same route?

I think MichaelC did it that way, at least he gave me tips to do it.
But it was too late, I already killed Umpanis. So my answer is no - I served TRangs and did not single mission for Umpanis.
I will try it during my second way throught this game.

I played a double agent and did the peace mission. You get a LOT of experience for bringing them together.

Well, yes the peace mission brings you a lot of ekstra experience points, if you can free the two prisoners. However killing one of the gangs (Umpani or T'rang) also brings many experience points and some good stuff, so the choise is not that obvious, but a nice twist for replaying the game!

when im done with the peace mission and right before im about to head up to ascension peak, im going to kill all the umpani and trang for the extra experience. plus there is a room in martens bluff that i havent checked out yet, its guarded by two trang and a combination lock, which isnt too hard to figure out. i wonder if anything nice lies behind that door

I do not think you will able to kill them.
Trang will close its base and will not allow you to enter anymore.

just set a portal inside the Trang base and that's it, and near the trang teleporter, there's another entrance from the surfaice

You can also get in there without killing them or ruining your alliance with them, it's just very tricky. stand outside the door, go into combat mode, run up to the door, open it, then run up to the staff and teleport the hell out, but save and load a lot because one false move puts you into combat mode. I've heard you can also camp near there until you get an encounter and then they will move, you may be able to frighten them away or paralyze them too.
