UO? That was an old game - I played back in 96' for two years. If you want something similar, try Lineage. You may get a surpise that Lord British makes a guest appearance there.

Not like the computer industry. After all, we have TLA - Three Letter Acronym. We have an acronym for acronyms!

Yes and what about Stalmann GNU (acronym recoursive (?? i don't know in english - an acronym in which there is the same acronym!))
GNU = GNU is Not Unix

Ah. the old recursive acronym. My personal fave (from back in the days of telnet): PINE=PINE Is Not ELM.

I am still an Everquest junkie, and have been playing it for about 2 years now. Let me be the first to say however... that EQ is NOT a pure RPG. I believe that originally it was intended to be an RPG, but it has become something else. Yes, you create and play a fantasy character... yes the world has all the popular elements of high fantasy (elves, dragons, unicorns, wizards and such)... but for all that, it is NOT an RPG. I would venture to say that most EQ'ers have never played an oldschool PNP RPG. For many, games like the Final Fantasy series are where they got their start. The names, attitudes, and in-game slang reflect this. Sounds pretty negative doesn't it? Why do I play? Simple... there is an addictive quality to the game, and it is easy to form online friendships with fellow players ( I am in a large, "uber" guild on one of the older EQ servers). This is what keeps me coming back to EQ. I played DAoC for a couple months as well, and it is a similar experience (though not as engrossing as EQ imho). I really wish that EQ was a true RPG (my first love when it comes to games), but it is not. If you want true RPG elements (well crafted story, fantasy immersion feel, ability to truly affect the world around you, etc) don't expect to find them in a MMORPG.

well i understand what your saying, i too played eq and i was well pretty well off in thwe game. I also played uo i had a blast with that. But a new one im looking forward too is ashrons call 2 comes out in dec hopefully looks good. Alot like eq a bit it hink btu i want something new to mess around with. Id perfer a isometric one like uo but i havent found any that are coming out soon. I like to play ones that arer new cause nothing worse then coming in late and well everyone is liek uber tahst where i start to well get bored quicjk. I like the interaction of newbies and well the advice of veterans alike, the bonds of fighting at low level. Late on at higher levels itys about the gear and thats not me. But i hope that i can get a thing going so perhaps w could all start playiong together in one game and make some good bonds in a game and on the boards.
