Newbie to MMORPG's

Guys,

I have never ever tried a MMORPG, but stuck to my latest copy of a PC mag was a free months trial for Everquest.

Sorry to appear a bit dim, but is it a bit like playing Morrowind or Gothic, but all the Avatars / Characters are controlled by real people?

Im trying to get my head around the concept.

So, if I get a quest, then dont finish it and maybe not log on again for ages, will things have moved on etc.....?

Maybe Ill give it a go over the xmas hols anyway..

Regards,

Hexmaster

It's not exactly like Morrowind, because it's nearly impossible to integrate a storyline as in a single-player game into a MMORPG. Quests stay open if you don't log on for months...

The fun thing is, you can do most of the things you do in single-player games but now with (or against) real players! The only drawback i see is the fact that most of the times it comes down to: fight, lvl, fight, lvl, new armor, new weapons, fight, lvl, fight....rinse and repeat...

But still, it's addictive as hell!

You could also try out A Tale in the Desert. It has a different concept than most MMORPGs. They'll be running a beta session today so you can hop in for free and see what it's like.

I had to uninstal that thing ( I mean tale in the desert ) I started playing about 4 weeks a go at 4 pm and sudently I realised that it was 11 pm I uninstaled it after that. I just think that MMorpgs are really dangerous.

I'm just grateful it's in beta and not on-going or I'd never leave my room!

When I began to play the program wrote that I should look for a mentor or something like that, and there you can type in a name, I wrote Val but it showed that the player is not loged on. Is that your nickname there?

Good I didn't find you, as far as I remember I would be teleported to the place where you were. And that would be probably your torture chamber

If by "torture chamber" you mean the Sandy Beach Resort, then you are correct.

Actually the Sandy Beach Resort was something Sauron, Val, Gig, and I came up with in the Non-Flamers Guild; so we named the atitd guild after the one here.
