Right now i'm level three and have all 30 skill points left. What skills are worth points and what are not? I mean, should i get 1h weapons, or wait for 2h? Also, are bows of any use?
Thanks. |

you should use your first points to increment strength and dexterity as they will pump up your life and ability to use other weapons. bows are useful will hunting critters in the forrest. later on use it on one handed weapon training as you will become much more fluid and deal more damage to enemies.

Do you have the Demo or the Full version?
A lot of people have the Demo.
Get 1-Handed Sword skills first. Both 1 and 2 would be necessary. This will cost you 30 skill points.
Then go fight some monsters until you're at Level 5, then you can join a camp. Level 11 is needed to kill people, and most creatures. But this takes a lot of time.
There are a lot of ways that you can get Strength and Dexterity without wasting Skill Points on them. Like potions that you can steal, or be rewarded with. There are many artifacts that will pump you up, too.
I do not recommend that you spend skill points on Mana.
You'll need 30 Strength through most of game, at minimal. Bows and Crossbows are optional. You can go through most of the game without fighting with ranged weapons. |

Is dexterity useful for a warrior or is it only useful for a bowman? |

You need more dexterity to use better bows and crossbows.
This whole discussion about 1-Handed or 2-Handed, bow or crossbow is irrelevant because itīs simply a matter of taste. These skills are pretty balanced in their advantages and disadvantages. As long as you specialize you canīt make a grave mistake.
You can learn stats up to 100. Then you need potions and artifacts to pump them up.

Thanks, Gorath! That is what I was originally asking - are the weapons balanced. I mean, I don't want to spend like 30 points in a skill only to have it be useless several hours down the road. So you think its really just waht you like?

Gorath is right about swords and bows/crossbows being balanced.
But when it comes to skills, and Magic, then you might feel ripped off.
Sneaking is only useful if you want to sneak into huts during the day.
Pickpocketing is only useful if you don't like fighting. And even then, you'll only be able to use it with 2% of the population safely.
Acrobatics is almost completely useless.
Magic is good... But most monsters are extremely protected against all Magic.
The only reason why you would want to waste over 150 skill points is if you're near the end of the game, and you want to use Uriziel's Rune.
This Rune is the Nevinyrral's Disk of Gothic. - It almost destroys every living thing. |

What disk? Which game/book/movie? |

The disk is from the card game Magic the gathering. Every card in play is buried (taken out of play) and your entire hand is discarded. |

Well, I finally ended up registering (I'm the one who started the thread, and made the last post as well.)
Uh, another quick two questions. Is it advisable to get both ranged and melee weapons or just to specialize in one. Also, if I plan to get two handed weapons, should I not bother with one handed? |

Melee is needed. You simply cannot allways use ranged weapons or magic.
Both ranged weapons and magic are needed for some quests.
One handed level 1 could be useful simply to learn how to handle a sword.
If you cut down magic you can afford it all. |

Yep, Nevinyrral's Disk is from Magic: The Gathering. But it doesn't discard your hand
In order to learn Two-Handed skills, you MUST learn One-Handed skills, first.
Learning how to use a Bow or a Crossbow only allows you to hit from further ranges. I never noticed the skills to increase damage.
You won't be able to learn Two-Handed sword Level 2 until you're at a very high level. So unless you wasted your skill points on Magic, strength or dexterity, you should have about 30 spare skill points by the time you get to learn Two-Handed stuff. |
