Questions about this game?

Was anyone able to wring any enjoyment out of this game whatsoever? I played the demo and found it to be quite boring and unrealistic.....err.... well....so beyond the point of realistic it wasn't conceivable.... I mean ho hum....I start the game and right off....after being just a farmer for years on end I suddenly can master magic and use a sword like it was an extension of my arm....and then I go on to slay many evil beings one after another as if it was second nature....so again....is there any fun to be had?

Unfortunately, you will have to keep doing those things until the end of the game.

The first time I tried to play this game, I put it down to play Divine Divinity, which after about 2 hours of play grabbed me and wouldn't let go.

So then I went back to Dungeon Siege after finishing Divinity, and it wasn't that bad, in my opinion. It's mindless, but slightly less so than Diablo, but not as tedious or involved as NWN or Morrowind.

I don't know, I finished D. Siege, and I have pretty fond memories of the game, personally. It's pretty darned good when all is said and done, just not GREAT.

Yes, it is good game for someone who can sometimes play pure hack and slash game without story. There is nice graphics, there is this thing with getting or not getting several party members, there are many and nice creatures, many many nice weapons and parts of armor, many different landscapes...
Yes, there is nearly no story, very clear linearity and no need to carry about many things, you can nearl let your party members do their job on their own and just show them where to go and sometimes push H or M button to raise their mana or HP, but later in game with strong party you will probably no need to do this at all.

So I think this can not be fun for everyone, but certainly for someone.

i love the noises when u slam a skeleton's head with a mace, but it is a pretty boring game. i only got to the goblin's cave in the swamp than i thought how boring!!! the only way i got to know the story and beat the last boss was the import for multiplayer. u can just use the drdeath cheat and import your char and then warp to the last dungeon. that's a good thing, but in many ocassions...bad! cuz the whole multiplayer PvP thing is hacked and cheated!

As for:
"I start the game and right off....after being just a farmer [...]"
In many rpg games you start from the lowest posible rank, so there is some space for advancement, like Summoner, Divine Divinity, etc.
Similar to Kung Fu films - a hard trainig makes you a master within days, which is not realistic at all, but will you make a film that shows somebody training day by day for 20 years - wouldn't that be boring?

DS is an action rpg-alike game, not a hardcore rpg, and in its class it a really fine game. If you don't like action-rpgs, stick to "the real" hardcore RPG - I hope you can distinguish these two types from far ahead.

I really liked DS, I played it, I finished it and I enyojed it. I can't say that I really liked the "singel player" map because you could almost always only go one way and you didn't have any side quests but the last leader gave you some good weapons
anyway, me and some friends used to play it over the net and the orginal "multi player" map is pretty big and fun to play.
D/L Chicken world and get some exp
and bla bla bla. . .
