Combat- turn based option?

I really like the wizardry/ might and magic series in that it was not a hack and clash. At beginning of battles, you could play continuous or change the combat to turn based so you could think out your strategy instead of seeing how fast your fingers are. Does the combat mode in Arx Fatalis have this feature or is it similar to Diablo? Thanks

Neither. It's similar to Morrowind.

It is actually much more that just quick fingers, it is acuracy too...

you must draw runes symbols on the screen while fighting to cast spells, and manage inventory at the same time.

It is much harder than turn based systems.

thankfully there's the hotkeys (1 to 3 for magic, H for healing potions and something else for mana potions), and the 3 magic slots you can prep up.

One of the things about magic is that if you raise it enough you'll never need more then 3 slots of magic as most monsters will succumb against such attacks (which IMHO is lame... Specially when you don't rely on magic much)

HEY RED
HOW DO YOU PREP UP MAGIC SLOTS...you're not talking about the hot keys here right...? I'd like to assign other keys to function as more hot keys...how do I do that???

Of course I am. 1 2 and 3 hotkeys... Most of the time you end up just using 1 since all you prep up are fireballs.

I'm guessin you know then how to do it, but just in case, hold the shift key while release the spell.

think like a sniper

ive found it alot easier in most of the battles with most powerful adversaries to find a nearby higher spot (most of the time, am shagar can climb a few feet up a wall or precipice, jump on top a table, etc.) the monster only hits half as much or not at all with the right ledge being used. be sure to have adequate arrows (dont run out, have them repaired by the smith before running out of the quiver) and/or know a few ranged spells (i.e. magic missile- generally useless without high casting ability, unless of course you're a snake woman, who has nuclear fission magic missiles). most monsters will pursue you indefinitely, so know your way back to the last most opportune ledge, makes the game go longer to defeat enemies this way, but less frustrating having to wait on a save game to reload all the time and wasting potions/scrolls in battle.

You cant say harder. It is not similar to turn based system. It depends on other things than turn based fights. On your speed and accuracy.
